Sides of this Letter Box are:
HFULAYMREGST
The answers are:
MYSELFFRAUGHT
MYSELF FRAUGHT
A pretty quick solve today.
Yep, and thus why we turn to the games section of the NYT.
OA and same as everyone here!
MYSELF – FRAUGHT
Me too. Yahoo!
OA. Found Fraught easily enough, but took a long time to see Myself.
OA pretty quickly. I started with HEARTFELT but then saw MYSELF and tried that instead.
Same, OA in 10 minutes. I was hung up with Thyself first. Thought I was close with Heartfelt too. It left something close to Mugsy or Smugly 😂
Same. I found FRAUGHT right away but had a brain freeze. Went on numerous side trips (for too long) until I found MYSELF. *smacks forehead*
Yes, exactly the same here!
OA.
I saw FRAUGHT immediately. I saw MYSELF about 45 minutes later…
FRAUGHT was the first word I saw in the puzzle. Literally took the rest of the day to finally see MYSELF. So irritating.
MYSELF — FRAUGHT
Once I typed in MYSELF, FRAUGHT was right there.
I could not get any of these to work: GLUTAMATES, HEARTRATES, TARTRATES, THESAURUSES
Good find with THESAURUSES.
Why Theaauruses? When Thesaurus will do just as well?
Easy peasy! Off to jury duty 😔
OA
OA too quickly
OA quick and neat… no duplicate letters
Same. Got FRAUGHT immediately trying to work with the T, then tried SHELF but couldn’t place the M and Y, then OA was pretty obvious. Also liked MARTYR(S) and SLEUTH(S) but nowhere to go from there…
I was surprised that SHELFY was accepted.
TRUTHY as well… 🤔
MYSELF—FRAUGHT (oa)
THAUMATURGES—SHELFY
Both are new words for me, and I was pleased both were accepted in the game. From OED:
thaumaturge, n. A worker of marvels or miracles; a wonder-worker.
shelfy, adj. Abounding in sandbanks lying near the surface of the water.
Wow! I’m going to steal THAUMATURGES 🙂 Not sure how and when I’ll use it, but it’s a keeper!
OA fairly quickly.
Getting Thaumaturge makes him one
Thanks Marc. 🙂
I think I got lucky on that one.
But it does save it from being a singular solution (SS) day. 👍
Correction:
SELFY is LB-approved.
SHELFY° is not.
Sorry, I got them mixed up.
i saw THAUMATURGY by dumb luck (I knew it was a word, but not what it means), but couldn’t make it work. So then THAUMATURGES, and was surprised to discover that SELFY also completes the two-worder. I guess it’s an alternate form of selfie, but also once meant selfish or self-centered.
Good one 52nd Street. I saw SELFY but my OED said it meant “selfish” and I thought that would clash, thematically, with THAUMATGURGES, which has a very positive connotation.
Btw, if 52nd Street is in NYC, I used to work at 54th and 6th. 🙂👍
typo: ^THAUMATURGES
I’ve stayed at the Midtown Hilton that is very close to that!
Heh. It is in New York, but in my case the Queens portion of it.
I’ll myself will join the this fraught group
OA. Pleased with my find here today, cheers all
Another Myself Fraught. Well, yes. Has LB been listening in on my calls?
OA
Like everyone else i ended up with the OA but not my first choice … First i had:
MYRTLES SELF-TAUGHT
but LB wouldn’t take self-taught because it is hyphenated in all the dictionaries …
then i tried FRAUGHTAGES which is Not hyphenated and is in the dictionaries (MW, OED, Collins, etc., but LB doesn’t like it … but i was still going to go with it until i tried just FRAUGHT and LB took that.
from Merriam-Websters:
FRAUGHTAGE(s) is an archaic form of FREIGHT(s), and is still used in Scotland. FRAUGHT by itself seems to mean laden, or loaded. So, i guess eruptions volcanoes could be fraught with excitement and danger, but also just be fraught with lava.
erupting volcanoes
not eruptions volcanoes
McBee, how do you find Collins to be? Does it follow MW or OED, or independent? Does it have its own LB exceptions (if that makes sense)?
Hi Mark –
i think it generally follows MW, not as exhaustive as OED.
… i used to dig a lot more, but lately i’ve been so busy/lazy that when i search for a definition using DDG and if it lists it in any of the major dictionaries that’s good enough for me to call it a day … er, word 😎
Hmm … Collin’s may actually resemble OED more … it’s published in Glasgow (per Wikipedia) and is based on a database called the “Bank of English”
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_English_Dictionary
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_English
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_COBUILD_Advanced_Dictionary
Played around with MYTHS then THYSELF but quickly spotted MYSELF FRAUGHT.
People found thaumaturges!

OA. FRAUGHT was the first word I tried, MYSELF then jumped out to use the remaining letters.
Missed any 2w today, spent hours too, oy, tons of 3w answers, never tried -gh or -ght. My 3w’s: Gulf Flushes Smarty; Gulfs Smash Hearty; Gulfs Smarty Yeh (or Yeah); Flushes Sagas Smarty; Tums (or Tams) Shelfs (ok’d despite its spelling) Sugary; Glum Marshes Safety; Argues Shaft Tumult; Gyrates Sums Shelf; Gyrates Surfs Slum; Myths Sugars Self; Heartfelt Tug Gyms; HEARTFELT THYMUS SAG; Martyrs Shelf Frug; Gulfs Shear Rhythm; RHYTHMS SAUSAGE ELF; Sugar Rhythms Self; RHYTHM MAGUS SELF. Had hopes for Myrtle/s, Trauma/s, Athletes, Augur/s, Hamlet/s, etc etc etc. Can’t believe I never saw the OA… oy vey!
Nice triplets.
OA. FRAUGHT was the first word I tried. MYSELF took LOTS more searching. Smiled when I saw what it paired with, though.
Ugh! I couldn’t solve in two words. I saw FRAUGHT early on, but I couldn’t see MYSELF to precede it. Three words RHYTHMS SULFA AGE.
