BLACKMAIL—LAUGHED
(suspected singular solution, again)
(but I could be wrong)

GUMBAHʷ—HELIDECKʷ
HUCKLEBUCKEDʷ—DIGICAMʷ

ʷ Wiktionary
BLACKMAIL / LAUGHED too.
First was going for BLACKMAILABLE and then BLACKMAILED. Couldn’t pair them with anything.
The only pair I could find for those was BLACKMAILED—DAUGH, but LB didn’t accept ‘daugh’, although it was in OED and Wiktionary.
Quick OA, after first trying BLACKMAILED. (I love my long words). Took a couple of minutes to think, ‘What if I took off the ED?’ Then saw ‘LAUGH’ right away.
Good luck to everyone trying, congratulations to all who solve, and love to my besties – Kanishk, hope you’ve arrived in the UK safely and enjoy your visit here (not expecting to see you on this thread, but glad to see you if you do!) RF, my lovely, good luck!
Happy Thursday, everyone!
*LAUGHED, of course! Yeah, I’m with Mark, it’s looking singular to me too.
Alice concurs. She found some other pseudo solutions, as I did, but not my gumbah-helideck! 😊
Miss Irim, same route to the OA. 👍
Kanishk-boy, hope you have fun in the UK. Take a break from your phone and explore the city. 🤗
Same route to OA via Blackmailed, then Blackmail — Laughed
Well done, Irim – congrats on the quick solve! Great job to RF as well – kudos to both of you.
I’m currently typing this from home – we weren’t able to make it to the UK after all, as we hadn’t realised a transit visa was required for our route through Germany. The only alternative was flying via the Middle East, which we felt was too risky. Unfortunately, the tickets were non-refundable.
That said, Irim, the UK sounds like a wonderful place – I’d still love to visit someday.
I didn’t even attempt today’s grid and came straight here instead. I assume it’s another singular solution puzzle. At least the words aren’t too obscure – I would have gotten it quickly if I’d tried.
Happy Thursday, everyone! Congratulations to those who solved it, commiserations to those who didn’t, and best of luck to anyone still working on it.

BLACKMAIL-LAUGHED
Too🙃
OA after trying those ABLE words again, CLICKABLE etc. and CAMELBACK. BAH HUMBUG!
Yeah, thought it would have been funny if he’s gone with Camel ack the day after Hogback. Was a busy day. And the puzzle took me quite awhile. But in with a little over an hour to spare. Took forever before I saw Laugh. From there it didn’t take long to get the OA. 81/87, 22/26, 3, 36

Blackmail & Laughed
OA but I spent too much time trying to get Blackmailed and Laughable to work and didn’t see the obvious 😞
OA and a few such as medical laughback(urban dictionary)
Eventually got BLACKMAIL – LAUGHED, but was disappointed that it would not accept LAUGHED – DIMEBACK
