    1. OA also. Figured WORK would be in the solution as it deals to K and W.

J would take care of itself once the groundwork had been laid and so it did!

    2. OA as well after finding a F-ton of “ing” words. 😂

      Wording, Worlding, Wounding, Joking, Jointing,
      Outworld, Workout

      Close with:
      Outworking – Gold (no J)
      Outworking – Goji (no LD)

    3. OA with quite a bit of effort.

JOKING and OUTWORLD use all the letters but I couldn’t force them into a pair. I made a threesome with
      JOKING GOGO OUTWORLD.

    4. OA but took me a long time. I was concentrating on suffix words TION and ING Juking joking but jolting didn’t occur. I had a solve with JINGKO OUTWORLD but JIngko was not accepted!

  1. JOLTING — GROUNDWORK

Found GROUNDWORK and then worked backward. Also found NUTRITION, TUITION, INTUITION, GRIDIRON, GROUNDING, DROWNING, NITRIDING.

I thought that I had found TRINITROTOLUOL, but the O and T are on the same side.

      1. Adding OUTWORLD to the list. Tried GROUTWORK first – my mind’s on the need to repair our bathroom floor….. Led me to OA inside of 10 min. I’ll take it!

        1. I would have had it quite quickly if Groutwork had been accepted. Despite seeing the WORK options pretty quickly, it took a long time before I saw GROUNDWORK. Happy to have found the OA. J words were quite limited. My list only went 6 deep – Jolting, Joking, Joint, Jowl, Jingo, and Joining.

    1. Pretty long words (that’s pretty and long not fairly long) aren’t much use if they use a small number of letters over and over.

Janky long words with lots of ugly letters are the ones we want 🙂

      1. You are quite right. If I start to see the same letters left over when I discover long words. I start over with those letters and try to make a decent sized word with most of them (especially J, Z, F, X, etc.). I have used this approach many times with pretty good results. 15 letter words aren’t much good if you can’t connect them.

    1. OA Jolting Groundwork: the lead-up to the big jump-scare.
Judging from the lack of alternatives here, I think this is probably another one-off.

  2. OA reasonably quickly.

BTW, it popped into my head the other day that THUNDERCLAPS would be a one-word solve if the letter array allowed it. 😊

  3. SO… if you are bored with today’s LB here is another.

The sides of the box are: USE PDG JRN ICO

Don’t know what you’ll find. I have spotted SPRUCED DINGO with a dangling J (apart from my OA which I’ll tell you later).

    1. Thank you Davel, what a list! I have a lot of words to learn now.

Gave my scrabble dictionary (and scrabble board) away years ago. I wonder if she still has them. A good excuse to look her up 🙂

  5. OA. Found JOLTING pretty early, but was ready to give up after 20 minutes of nothing clicking. Almost came here to check the solution, but decided to just close it instead. Came back tonight and did some more noodling, when I spotted GROUND/WORK in JOLTING’s leftovers. Sometimes you just need to let a puzzle marinate in your subconscious for bit. 😁

  6. I forgot to post this yesterday…

Here is the full list. No Scrabble words today.

** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **

(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)

    1 – 17 jolting / groundwork
