Doubtless they were named after one Emporer or another.
AQUEDUCT / TOPONYM too.
DOCQUET not accepted. I finally got OA but it took way too long!
AQUEDUCT – TOPONYMY for me. Took forever.
AQUEDUCT — TOPONYM
AQUEDUCT — TOPONYMY
Spent time with CONCOCTED, EDUCATED, DECANTED, COUNTED, POUNDED
ADEQUATE doesn’t work.
OA.
Tympano not accepted, but aqueduct always looked strong, so working the remaining letters produced Toponym.
Found AQUEDUCT (and CUMQUAT) right away. Disappointed that TYPMANO was rejected but I eventually found TOPONYM by trial and error.
The O and M on the same side ruled out all of the -OMY words and the lack of R ruled out METRY words, leaving very few solves today.
Ditto here! Adding a new word to my list 😉
Is and quick for a change
Tapped out after an hour. Gotta admit this one is tough. Is it singular solution today?
Failed here too – was miffed it wouldn’t allow DOCQUET*-TYMPANY, then I got stuck working on opaqued, cumquat and even aquacade.
my time limit is way way shorter than an hour, otherwise I’d spend an hour every day trying to win (and usually still losing)
Got it once I found aqueduct. Had already been looking for “nym” words. But got stuck with Cumquat for a while.
Same here, Cliffy, to a quite spooky degree.
aqueduct – toponym
first found aqueduct – tympany but that left out the “o”
Easy peasy today! Now for the weekend!
AQUACADE EPONYM MET
Also COQUET TYMPAN NOD
Simon, good one, I got Coquet, Tympanum and Tympany, I think I only got a 4w with Coquet – COQUET TANDEM MET TYPE – finally got a 3w: CUMQUAT TYPED DON.
Great three worder! Never thought of Cumquat.
Please, what does “OA” mean?
Man that was a struggle. Found AQUEDUCT relatively early in the process, but couldn’t pair it. Tried a bunch of other options like COQUET, CUMQUAT, OPAQUE, QUANTA to no avail and kept going back to AQUEDUCT. Eventualy saw the possibility of the NYM ending. Recognized TOPO as a root, and gave TOPONYM a try, despite it being a word I’ve never heard before… and lo and behold… the OA.
Aqueduct – Tympany – You
COQUET TYMPANUM MUD was the best I could do.
I found:
CUMQUAT / TYPED / DON
POEM / MYNA / AQUEDUCT
QUOTED / DUCT / TYMPANY
Here is the full list including Scrabble words:
** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **
(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)
1 – 15 aqueduct / toponym
2 – 16 aqueduct / toponymy
3 – 15 aqueduct / tympano*
4 – 13 docquet* / tympan
5 – 14 docquet* / tympana
6 – 14 docquet* / tympano*
7 – 15 docquet* / tympanum
8 – 14 docquet* / tympany
Ok, now I feel better. Got Aquaduct but didn’t have a clue about the T words above. Played around with Cumquat and Opaqued, too, but finally gave up.
Failure!!!
CODEC CUMQUAT TYMPANY
CUMQUAT TYPED DON
we’re my best efforts.
I never saw AQUEDUCT but even if I had I wouldn’t have gotten TOPONYM in a week.
