        1. Started with DIMPLING, then when I saw UNWAXED and was tapping it in, I switched to UNWAXED – DUMPLING. Never occured to I could drop the UN~ until I saw the OA, which enviably is a 13/2. 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

      1. Radioactive Flower

        Hey, our first-born STEPHIE,

        Double thumbs up! 👍👍

🥳🎉 YAY!!! You got it! ARMADA, indeed! 🎉🥳

      1. Sameish, got stuck trying to end a word with ed and then found dumpling STARTING from the other end, so had DEWAXED – DUMPLING

  1. (DE)(UN)WAXED—DUMPLING OA
    UNWAXED—DIMPLING
    MWALIMU°—UNEXPUNGED°

    °OED:
mwalimu, n. A teacher. Also as a title preceding a proper name, or as a form of address.

    1. mwalimu,
Surprised to see Swahili in the OED. Is this a common occurrence? Is this used by native English speakers somewhere?

  2. Waxed dumpling…
When the buffet starts running low…
“No! Don’t eat that! It’s for display only!”

        1. Interesting link on the topic.
The article says one of the East African words added to OED was “tarmac: to cover with tar macadam.” Did a double take on that.

          Re tarmac OED says:
          Additional sense (2022)
intransitive. East African. To walk the streets looking for work; to seek employment, to job hunt.
          I like that.

  3. OA after a disastrous couple of days, which, of course, I’m blaming on jet lag, LOL. Hopefully this is a sign of better days ahead 🙂 Now I’m off to brush up on my Swahili! Good on you Mark – once again, giving me new words for my every-growing list.

    1. Thanks Susan. 🙂 I think our vocabularies are enriched by this game. Of course the clever connections we find in the TI department are fun, but perhaps more lasting is that ever-growing list you mention. ☕

  4. OA fastest ever, my very 2nd guess in a couple of minutes (first guess right away was 3w Waxing Glad Dumped, then tried Dumpling and saw Waxed was left over)

  5. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:
