    1. Same…
      Farmhouse – Exile(s)

      after finding these first…
Houseflies, Horseflies, Maximums, Horseshoes, Exhumes, Houseful

    2. More efficient than the OA, I also went with EXILE for the finish. I guess the question is, does it change the meaning of the phrase Closing the barn door after the horse has bolted, if it bolted because you forced it to?

    OA.

This was a very satisfying solve. In fact, I almost gave up. Glad I found HOUSE after a while. Which made me made up compound words i.e. HOUSEFLIES then SAFEHOUSE, then finally FARMHOUSE. YAY!!!

    …………

I’m glad I discovered letterboxed because like today it gives me a different kind of satisfaction in life. It gives me something to look forward to every day. Lately, I don’t find satisfaction from food because I have mouth sores that never heal.

        Hi OG Steph 🤗,

I don’t know the underlying cause. One of my doctors told me that it could be side effects of my bipolar disorder meds. Or it could be side effects of Metformin I’m also taking for my diabetes.

I have mouth sores for more than a year now. When one heals another one comes along. Right now I have three concurrent ones. They are painful.

Yeah, that’s my wish – to recover soon. Thanks! 😊

    1. HOUSEFLIES and SAFEHOUSE are great — I didn’t see either.

Up through my thirties, I had chronic canker sores which are also known as aphthous ulcers. I could count on one (or more developing) every couple of weeks. I (finally) outgrew them and haven’t had one in decades, but they were certainly not fun. They aren’t viral or contagious, and these days, there might even be some OTC medication specifically for them.

        Hi Sir BILL DUFFIN 🤗,

It’s nice to hear that you outgrew them. It makes me hopeful that I will too. My canker sores started since 2019. Like every 3 months. Last year was the worst because it stretched to until now.

  2. FARMHOUSES — SEXFOIL Rural architecture??

I spents a lot of time with HORSEFLESH/HORSEFLESHES, MAXIMUMS, EXHUMES, AUXILIARIES, AIRFOILS, and SOULFUL. LB didn’t accept SMILEFUL, HUSHFUL, or HEXAFOIL/HEXAFOILS, but was OK with SEXFOIL/SEXFOILS.

    1. LB also didn’t accept HELIXES, which I though was ridiculous.

Then there are the words you can’t make because contiguous letters are on the same side, like REMORSEFUL or SHAMEFUL. Grr!

  3. FARMHOUSES-*SEXILE

When I saw FARMHOUSE and then FARMHOUSES, I first picked up on the word SEXILE as its companion and thought that was it for sure, but LB didn’t take it– SEXILE, as in the neologism for when you’re not gittin’ any cuzza bein’ in the doghouse cuzza som’m you done said or did. So flumoxed, I was, that it took me half a beat to back that S off and put EXILE 😆.

  4. FARMHOUSE EXILE here too. Was hoping FAILSAFES and HORSEFLESH might lead to some two-word solutions.

    Also MARSH HOUSEFULS SIX

  5. Samuel Hanwich

Looked at it earlier and almost threw in the towel after following a lot of dead ends. Looked at it with fresh eyes after getting some sleep and got the OA just as I was about to give up again.
