Same here. Another one-trick pony to be dealt with (in all probability) but, at least, I reached the solution fairly quickly this time around. My paving stones were SPRING, TWAIN, SPRINKLING, WRINKLING, STARGAZING, TAILGATING, SPARKLING, SPAWNING, SKATING, WAGTAIL, ZAKAT, and SPRAWLING.
Was distracted by SPIRALIZING for a moment, but soon stumbled upon SPRITZING. A good thing, too.
Official
Official here too 🙂 tried sprawling, glitz(ing) and sparkling before arriving at spritzing
Spent way, way too much time on the puzzle yesterday, so when I quickly found what I surmised would be the official answer, I jumped on it. It was quick enough that I have no finds along the way to report. But I’m going out on a limb this time and predicting there are non-official two-word answers to be found here, and somebody’s gonna find one.
Official after getting nowhere with STARGAZING.
Springtime visions of watering the garden?
Official pretty quickly.
Thought would be a zing word not many vowels in play.
Tried plagiarizing first then got official
Official. It does feel Letter-Boxed in.
🙂
Official, and quickly. My guess is that this is the only solution according to the puzzle word list. ZAKATS – SPRAWLING also works according to the Scrabble word list.
Official. Wrinkling, sparkling, alkalizing, glitz.
Same. Like my walks almost every day with the dogs lately
Walks Spritzing
Official for me too.
Most people here instinctively take pride in finding efficient solutions, i.e., solutions using the smallest number of positions. I think the puzzle is equally interesting if one tries to find a two word solution that uses the largest number of positions.
As a retired engineer, I find efficiency interesting enough, but the longest words are the most entertaining.
I’m inclined to disagree; just as the basic pursuit is to use as small a number of words as possible (with quotas set by the puzzle creators), so it should be with regard to the number of letters used -to the extent, of course, that one treats this as some sort of contest.
I am always inspired by the thematic answers myself! When the puzzle is so constrained it’s like a one-hit wonder. Either way, my brain is engaged first thing in the morning 🙂
Official for me today after feeling quite elated upon finding STARGAZING and reluctant to give it up. Then found SPRAWLING and finally the official.
Efficiency & thematic integrity are the equivalent of the ace & the joker in the pack. You can work on efficiency, whereas TI mosty comes as a secret bonus.
I couldn’t agree more Sota – And I so admire those that work and are successful at coming up with the answers that bring delight and inspiration to us all – yourself included 🙂
ZAKAT(s) plural not existing SPRAWLING
Official very quickly. Unlike yesterday😵💫
I’m with you. Astonishingly quick today. Gave up on yesterday’s. Always nice to come back.
THE NIGHT GARDENERS
(tanka)
Stargazing beneath
A sprawling glitzing sparkling sky,
We walk, spritzing leaves
With droplets, plagiarizing
The wailing constellations.
(stargazing, sprawling, glitzing, sparkling, walk-spritzing, plagiarizing, wailing)
(or the singular version, more faithful to the 2-word solution)
THE NIGHT GARDENER
Stargazing beneath
A sprawling glitzing sparkling sky,
She walks, spritzing leaves
With droplets, plagiarizing
The wailing constellations.
Jill will effortlessly spritz blood out of a stone!
Beautiful imagery. Thank you for adding sparkles to my day!
walks – spritzing
Official. Yay.
