Occasionally I need to test my program in real time. This forum seems to be the right scratchpad for that test. I’ll check my solutions as usual moving forward. Thanks 🙂
Can’t believe it accepted “Sherwani”…. that’s Hindi! Even the Beatles couldn’t mainstream that one!
I believe Stephen Foster beat them to it in De Old Folks at Home.
I think they’ve added a lot more words. I’m not sure that one would have been accepted a couple years ago.
It definitely like there were many possibilities today – that’s quite the list Mark!!
Thanks, Nicole. I was lazy though and didn’t check them.
☕☕
LB whupped me today.
WHUP PANCREAS SKI
UNWRAP-PECKISH
WASHUP-PANICKIER*
*PANICKIER good in Scrabble US (TWL)
PUNISHES-SCRAWK*
*SCRAWK good in Merriam-Webster
PUCKS-SHERWANI
SCREWUPS-SNAKISH*
*SNAKISH good in OED
WHISKS-SPRAUNCIER
HICKS-SPUNWARE*
*SPUNWARE good in Collins
UNSCREWS-SPARKISH
I didn’t have WHISKS-SPRAUNCIER. Adding it to my database. Good one. ☕
Thanks!
PUNISHES SEAWRACK
HUCKS-SPAWNIER*
*SPAWNIER good in Collins, Scrabble UK (SOWPODS)
OA Today!
OA here as well. PECKISH was the first thing I saw. But couldn’t find unwrap off the bar. Wrote down 85 more words before I got to UNWRAP to wrap up the puzzle.
Got your ultimate also w/o knowing sparkish would qualify.
WHISKS-SPRAUNCIER
Ha! That’s the only one I did not get. Good catch.
UNSCREWS – SPARKISH
Free-spirited.
Wanted to complete SCREWUP(S) but it got me where I needed to go.
unwrap – peckish
unscrews-sparkish
UNSCREWS — SPARKISH
Spent time with PUNISHES/PUNISHER, WEAKISH, and PUCKISH.
I can’t believe that LB won’t accept SHIKSA.
WASHUP – PANICKIER*.
WHISKIES-SPRAUNCIER
an inefficient solve.
Unscrews Sparkish
Unscrews and sparkish.
Same
OA. Figured there aren’t going to be many other solutions out there today that use real words.
OA. Disappointed that UNISPHERE(S) was not accepted.
Today was the first time I could not access Letter Boxed online without subscribing. So I had to make do with just the letters, no grid.
Ended up with UNWRAPS SHICKSE*
*variant of Shiksa etc.
Me too!
Good idea Simon
Sad and mad, not glad, about getting barred at the door today.
Contemptible greedheads now requiring subscription.
Same here. Pay to play. Adios letter boxed.
UNSCREWS – SPARKISH
A light bulb went off.
As of today LB is no longer available (at least to me) without a NYT subscription, so I guess I’m not playing it anymore! Same with the Mini Crossword. Too bad, since LB was the most challenging puzzle game I played.
Same here Wayne. Very disappointing!! On the bright side it frees up a lot of my time. Plus, there’s always other games to play in other arenas. I always get depressed reading the news blurbs. Its never-ending bad news 💔
Same for me. It’s no longer free.
That’s me done…. It’s a shame, but I’m not paying…so farewell fellow letter boxers.
Is this true?? No more free LB? I am so sad 😢. Good bye for now my fellow word nerds I will miss you
Try the new pips it’s pretty good too.
Thanks for the recommendation MMVC. Different but good.
I don’t begrudge NYT charging a reasonable price for their product, but I dare not sign up. Limiting my access to ‘free only’ helps me manage my screens addiction. Seriously. It’s not a good strategy, but it is a strategy. 🙂
Bless the rest of you for supporting actual journalism, in a roundabout way. Peace out.
