    1. NYT wouldn’t allow me to play a 5-letter word starting with F and ending with A that’s in OED with ANDROLOGY. Didn’t know we were playing with a sanitized version.

    2. I got it but try to do 3 words too. Lackful, laryngology, yod. Still waiting to see it show though. Andrology didn’t have an easy ending.

  1. DRAGONFLY — YUCK

Found DRAGON, DRAGONFLY, and YUCK was right there.

I also spent time with LARYNGOLOGY, ORACULAR, ANDROLOGY, and LOCKFUL

  2. Hit a roadblock today, even though my first word was GADFLY

    Came up with
    FRAUD DRACONOLOGY* YAK

    But submitted GULF FROND DOCKYARD

  3. Had a hard time until tried dragon. Got dragonfly immediately and knew it would be answer. Before yuck, got cuckold dragonfly

    1. Sometimes in LB (as in life), less is more. Couldn’t solve it at breakfast before early bike ride, but on ride cuckoldry came to me. Played it when I got back and still couldn’t solve until I backed it off to cuckold and dragonfly magically appeared.

      1. Dr. Sahar Yousef proclaims that the brain needs the subconscious mind to work the problem behind the scenes.
Always walk away and come back to it with fresh eyes!

        1. I sometimes call that “ letting it percolate” perhaps some problems require the brains brute computing programs to run longer. Reminds me of when I can’t remember a name or something and it pops up later”out of nowhere”

          1. A couple of years ago a snippet of music popped into my head, no lyrics , just melody. Tried everything possible to figure it out, enilisted others etc, never did after six months of trying, so just quit and forgot about it, convinced myself I was misremembering another song

  4. Spent time on “ck” “ful” “ology” tried lanyard dockyard gadfly longful dry land oncology lackaday frugal augury and others before spotting dragon

  5. These are funny. Spent a couple hours on and off trying to crack this one, fell asleep for a nap, woke up, went back to it and saw it right away.

    CUCKOLD-DRAGONFLY

I must have been dreaming about insect infidelity.

    Happy Saturday.

  6. A year and a half later, while working, I HEARD IT! It was part of Coldplay’s TALK, which I’d heard 20 years ago.the song is convinced myself I was just misremembering turned out interestingly to be Coldplay’s Paradise. They made me nostalgic for when my kids were a certain age

    1. I d even looked up Coldplays top ten hits upon hearing Paradise but Talk wasn’t listed. So that one never got solved by the programs but it never left the subconscious memory.

  7. Total failure on this one. I just couldn’t make any progress toward useful words. The closest I got to OA was the word FLY. :-/ I kept trying to use the G in words with -ANG- or -ONG- so completely missed DRAGON. I don’t know why it is so hard to think of even ordinary words in some of these puzzles but not others.
