JOCOSEEXEMPLIFY
OA.
JOCOSE—EXEMPLIFY
Same, OA. Easy once EXEMPLIFY was uncovered.
MOJOS SPECIFICS SEXILY
I got that too, MOJOS SPECIFICS SEXILY. Was about to go with MOJOS SPECIFIC COMPLEXLY (surprised Complexly was ok). I got EXEMPLIFY but just didn’t know the word JOCOSE although I did know Jocular(ity) but of course lacked those letters here. Glad I gave up as soon as I did. I suppose I could’ve looked up Joc__ in the dictionary, then might’ve got the 2w.
JOCOSE / EXEMPLIFY
Yes indeed, OA immediately.
OA!
probably this is the only combination one can get
OA and I think you’re right it’s a one-off
Oa
oa.
OA Today!
Jocose – exemplify
I can’t say I’m a huge fan of arrays that include J. They tend to be either too easy, like today, or the solution includes an obscure loan word that takes forever to root out unless one cheats. Of course, it is possible that I am just still suffering from PTSD in the wake of JAGUARUNDI – IMPEL several years ago.
Ah yes, the dreaded J. I share your pain.
It is not so much that it is J, it is what is available to be the next letter. So frustrating. I gave up today.
Yep. O being the only available vowel to pair with J really limits the options. JOCOSE is a new word for me.
OA
JOCOSE — EXEMPILFY
I found EXCEL and EXCISE right away and eventually EXEMPLIFY. I tried different combinations until JOCOSE was accepted. Not a word that I know or use. A very tight matrix today (no OXY, EXO, MYO, etc.) Is this a one-off today?
OA but how could complexify not be accepted? More common word than jocose
Yeah. There are a number of -XIFY words it didn’t take. Now, maybe Sexify isn’t actually a word, but it is in my book. Got the OA but had to do a little searching. The full list of J words I had on my own was Mojo(s), Joy, Joe(s), and Jol(s). But a search for “Words containing JOC” increased my vocabulary by one after introducing me to the word JOCOSE. Which, I still like better than Thingamabob. At least with this puzzle you know the options are limited. There weren’t even that many X words. And with how limited the J words were, it was obvious Complex(ly)/(es), Simplex, Excises, etc. Weren’t going to work. So once I saw Exemplify I figured it was going to be something with JOC I didn’t know. ALIOW.
!!!!!!!!
OA
The j was pesky, even knowing it was Jo… got exemplify after complexify(mw,OED) saw jocose and OA. Doesn’t look like any more playing today.
Interesting. 1 year ago (very similar puzzle):
JANGLE – EXEMPLIFY
JOY YELPS SEXILY “YEP”, PIMPS SPECIFICS.
Playing my own game.
OA after toying with COMPLEXIFY which was not accepted. And was a dead-end anyway.
Funny thing is when I submitted the OA the app rated it NICE instead of the usual GENIUS. Lol. I wonder what a five-word answer might get.
I didn’t realize that the game had anything but “Genius!” or “Not in word list!” Even more interesting that LB rated its own OA as just “nice” 🙂
Be honest, who has ever uttered the word Jocose once in their life ?. Jocular occasionally, bellicose now & then, comatose a great many times, but I’m quite certain jocose had not found it’s way into my vernacular this far.
🤣
Oh, you must be jocosing.
Agreed
I’ve seen lists of words here that haven’t made their way into the english language and look more like the sound a person would make falling down the stairs while wrapped in foil.
JOCOSE – EXEMPLIFY
Surely you jest.
And don’t call me Shirley.
🙂
Stumbled over OA. Never heard of Jocose and probably never will again
same here
Jocose may be more familiar to older ,esp. voracious, readers. Sort of got lost as joke became common. Now , joke seems to be used mostly as an insult among young people and meme is used for funny
Todays puzzle is LEXICOMIC, from the obscure personal unabridged dictionary of neologisms
OA. Had never seen or heard JOCOSE. Found EXEMPLIFY first then used a wordfinder (yeah I admit I do that) for the remaining letters and there it was. Expected to see the dreaded “Not in word list” notation but it was accepted.
OA
That was a rough one for me today.
Yo,six o’ ye complexify me lip! Joy. Oy yes
OA, but…WTH?!?
Didn’t know if have to make up a new word to win today. 😅
OA
