  1. OA in about 7 minutes, after bemoaning no -GRAPH suffixes. Tried WARDSHIP, DWARFISH, and then moved on to DOGFISH which was a winner.

Can’t wait to see Kanishk & RF here – good luck, everyone! Congrats to all who solve, good luck to all trying.

Happy Wednesday and Pesach sameach to Jewish peops here and around the world.

    1. This one took me quite a while, but nevertheless, OA in 53 minutes (which I suspect to be another one-off).

I played with the same words as you, Irim, I was delighted to find DWARFISH and was so sure it would get me somewhere (it buried both the F and W), WARDSHIP was another great one, besides FORWARDS and UPWARDS. Then got to HOGFISH, replaced the H for a D, and spotted the UPWARD from what remained.

Happy Wednesday to all! RF, awaiting your solution shortly.

        1. OA here as well, but I struggled in a similar fashion and for a similar length of time as you did, K. Nice to get the month off to a good start. Happy Passover to those who celebrate. 85/91, 1/1, 9, 36

      1. Yay, the triumvirate does it again! Congrats, all!

Kanishk, yes, I’ve just checked Alice Liang, and it looks singular. *sigh* The last couple of days were good.

Glad to see you’re doing Spanish – took it in school and used Duolingo to refresh…let me know if you have any questions.

Meanwhile, is it weird that I’m remembering Devanagari by ‘Ok, that’s ‘sa’ b/c that looks like a backwards ‘s’, that’s ‘p’ which looks like a backwards ‘p’, and ‘ya’ looks like a stylised ‘y’?’

RF, hope you and your mum are doing well xx

        1. Thanks, Irim – I’ve been doing Spanish on Duolingo now on and off for about two years, I think – but I haven’t been serious about it (I took a gap of several months in between). I can speak basic phrases like Hola and Como estas. Lots of improvement needed!

And no, that’s not weird at all – that’s actually a really good way to remember letters, associating them with their english counterpart. Once you have the alphabet down, you’ll find Hindi very easy to learn – in fact, from what I know, it’s one of the easiest languages to learn.

Also let me know if you have any doubts while learning Hindi. It’s a beautiful language!

          1. I grew up with Urdu and Punjabi around me, and classic Bollywood films on weekends (for my parents, that was 40s/50s/60s and a bit into the 70s), so I know Hindi is a wonderful language. Looking forward to knowing it better – will definitely be asking you questions.

Hums आज मौसम बड़ा बेईमान है – one of my favourites! (and I didn’t write that on my own, but was able to spell it out).

    1. Samuel Hanwich

Same here, had DOGFISH and UPWARDS pretty quick, took my brain a minute to ditch the S to get the OA.

  2. After sorting through all the MUMBOJUMBO, I hit upon:
    JOURNEYMEN—NIQAB
    as a suspected singular solution.
I think I REMEMBER seeing this word NIQAB here before but had forgotten it. My solver also found ‘naqib’. which is in Wiktionary as a standard noun. ☕
