    ⚠ SPOILER ALERT — SOLUTIONS BELOW ⚠

Sides: JUM | SHN | IQY | KGR
    Verified 2-word solutions: 1
Sort: alphabetically by Word1, then Word2

    1. HIGHJINKS — SQUIRMY

    1. Mark your spoiler alert didnt really stop me seeing the solution. Luckily it was singular today and I had already got it
What did you think of the Rot13 approach? Or leaving it till 1pm before you post? Or are you worried Hal might post before you?

      1. I haven’t been playing Letterboxed nearly as long as most players on this site but I have been playing long enough to observe multiple players disparaging Mark for using his computer program and its value. It doesn’t deter him so, please stop.

In my opinion, Mark has compromised by separating his Letterboxed accepted solutions and his partial solutions. The former has proved helpful.

I don’t look at the comments until I have a solution. If I did, every comment would be a spoiler alert.

The bickering is what spoils the Comment section and the fun of the game.

    1. Well done! I’d always thought high jinks was two words, so dismissed it once I remembered it! (I’ve been using hijinks for too long)

  2. HIGHJINKS-SQUIRMY here after using the shorter spelling ‘HIJINKS’, having forgotten the original spelling for a hot second! About 15-20 minutes. What a fiendish array: 2 vowels, JQK in the same grid, JU and SH forbidden. Oof.

Kanishk and RF, hope to see you soonest, my besties!

Good luck with the array from hell, everyone, and happy Tuesday!

  3. Had HIJINKS and SQUIRMY, just didn’t even think to use the weird spelling, so bailed early. I’m counting it as a solve with an asterisk. On second thought, I’m removing the asterisk… As I was typing this, I checked my go-to word-check site, and HIJINKS is accepted by all ten sources, and HIGHJINKS by none of them.

      1. According to the “Anagrammer” word-check site I went to, it’s not accepted by any for any of the five Scrabble dictionaries, whether US/Canadian or British.

  4. OA quickly. Accdg to “The Dictionary of Americanisms” 1877, High Jinks is two words. “A great frolic”

“Slang and Its Analogues” 1893 has it as “hy-jinks,” a game of dice.

“A dictionary of slang, jargon & cant” 1888 uses it as “to play on the high jinks” — to take up an arrogant position.

“The author of the 1959 book “The High-Jinks of L. Frank Baum” hyphenated it.

  5. Highjinks squirmy. Had no trouble whatsoever scrolling right to the answer box on my phone ( peripheral vision? ) without seeing any other comments or answers . Is it colors? Context? Pattern recognition? Mark , you keep on doing what you’ve always done. You’ve always commented with politeness and goodwill and you don’t spoil any of the fun of the hunt. I’ll enjoy comments when I don’t want to search anymore, and today that will be after one find it looks like. And I enjoy everyone’s inputs on here . Keep it up!

  6. I thought Hijinks was a word and High-jinks was hyphenated. I tried Highjinks after Hijinks – Squirmy left the letter G.

    Highjinks – Sqirmy

  7. Highjinks squirmy – also struggled a bit while spelling highjinks without the g, but backed up and retried. Solved pretty quickly. Another day not wasted!

  8. Like a lot of others, I saw Hijinks-Squimy right away and couldn’t see what to do with that pesky G. Took a few minutes to try Highjinks. I’m still wondering who spells it that way. . .

  9. Kinky minks squiring hunky skinks, husky guys sunrising in gyms, hymn singing, hymning rising, sky signs minus jigs, iris surmising ruin, mining kings sinking, nursing ink hiking gigs, skin sin burning.

  10. It’s a no solution letter box. High jinks is always 2 words. Hijinks is one. Any of the “gotcha” comments are relying on incorrect grammar
