Sides of this Letter Box are:
OHTBKPLMNEIA
The answers are:
BIBLIOPHILEEMBANKMENT
BETAKE – EPIPHENOMENAL. The latter is one of my favourite words!
Oenophile–Embankment
HEMP – POINTBLANK 14/2, within seconds.
BIBLIOPHILE – EMBANKMENT, pretty much right away.
At 21-2, I was very surprised to find it’s the official answer.
TANKA AMPHIBOLE 14/2
Well played, PG! On the evidence of what’s already been submitted, I would expect lots of niche and hipstery answers to be on the way in this one.

Excuse the duplicate comment; one of those known/unknown glitches we often experience…
Enophile- embankment
MOBIKE ELEPHANT

night bibliophiles
weave their ether-like letters
into syllabic cadence,
dense amphibole syntaxes,
epiphenomenal dreams.
*A Japanese form of five lines.
The 1st and 3rd lines have five syllables, the 2nd, 4th and 5th have seven.
I could see it coming, Jill, the moment I saw PG’s solution; still astonishing you were able to work it out with just that material!
Awesome !
Incidentally, my solution is the only one yet that doesn’t contain any element of Greek; not sure how that’s supposed to make me feel 🙂
I was thinking of you as I was trying to think of words ending in phile to go with embankment.
And not a bad one at all that you eventually found; the abridged version, too (rather than the more consistent w/ Greek that would be OENOOPHILE).
OENOOPHILE even
OENOPHILE (blimey, it’s taking forever to post & I keep typing it wrong)
Yes, that’s the spelling I knew—and it’s the solution I came up with.
Couldn’t get EMBARKATION to work.
Yep I knew what you meant.
Hemp point blank
HEMP – POINTBLANK here as well. Minutes rather than seconds, but still better than hours!!! Have a great day all!
hemp – pointblank
Mobike — elephant 2/14
Now to look up “MOBIKE”
Interesting that mobike was accepted, happy that it was, I do love elephant 😊
MOBIKE – ELEPHANT too. Never heard of MOBIKE though!
Thought I’d cracked it with AKIMBO – OLIPHANT until I noticed the E was missing…
OENOPHILE—EMBANKMENT
19/2
“The wine off-ramp”
METAPHENOMENAL—LINKABLE
22/2
if only…
🙂
a friend of mine found ‘ophiolite–embankment,’ and I learned a new word!
Fun one involving a word I never knew existed:
HIKOI IMPLANTABLE (2/16)
boom (made me very happy after hours of the following failures):
MILKEN NAPTIME (haha)
KEMPT TIMETABLE
PENITENT TALK
IMPOLITE EBANK (no H but good imagery)
ELEPHANT TIMEBOMB (no K. Awful idea)
BLANKET TEMPO (no H or I, but sounds like someone is describing Muse haha)
BLANKET TEMPLE (the worship of haberdashery)
AMPHETAMINE EBANK (no O or L and hope I’m not giving any unscrupulous would-be entrepreneurs any ideas)
PHENOL LAMENTABLE (no T or M)
PHENOMENAL LIKABLE (no T)
PHENOMENAL LINKABLE (no T again)
PHENOME EMBANKMENT (no I or L)
TALKTIME EBON (no H or P)
And some random words all alone:
ELEPHANTINE (rather like this list)
TAMABLE
BANKABLE
ELEMENTAL
ANTINATIONAL (excellent additional letter futility score)
KNOB
BLOKE
PLANK
KOMBI
BIKABLE
MOBILE
IMPOLITE
LAMINATION (no friend I could find)
LAMENTATION
HABITATION
AMBITION
OBLATION
PALATABLE
IMPALPABLE
OINK
BIOME
PEON
EPITAPH
PATENTABLE
NEMA
Wow, now that’s what I call a list! Kudos to you, Hy!
I’d like to add one suggestion which might qualify as one of DW’s ‘fun but not allowed’ words:
BATMOBILE 🙂
Thanks Katie.
Batmobile is a great find in the illegal camp.
I’ve found some fun illegal ones the last week or two:
Today was just “Hankmobile” which is nothing much.
But one Saturday I got:
“URINAL LOCH” (not illegal but funny considering just how much fluid must be involved)
And on Thursday I got SWANLORD, and then one I laughed at a good amount: BASTARDTOWN
Ha!
What better name for the town which is home to such a loch! 🙂
Yes, that’s the spelling I knew—and it’s the solution I came up with.
Couldn’t get EMBARKATION to work.
I had the geotechnical OPHIOLITE EMBANK at 15/2 and stumbled onto the curious word PINKLE.
PHENOMENAL – LAMBLIKE
I got KATANA-AMPHIBOLE
I spent all morning trying to win while using PIMPMOBILE as one of my words.
Unfortunately, I was only able to win with HEMP-POINTBLANK 😔
boatlike epiphenomenon
Hemp-pointblank … quickly enough
