DRAWBRIDGES—SHOWY
ABRIDGES—SHOWY was much better, I see!
BOGEYED – DISHWASHER
Ditto!
This is beautiful. Wanted something with Dishwasher but would never have got Bogeyed.
Partly because when I see bogeyed I read bog-eyed.
I will never see BOGEYED the same! 😂
DRAWBRIDGES – SHOWY
Me too!
London Bridge on the Queen’s Jubilee ( is it a drawbridge though?)
And me.
No, no. That’s Tower Bridge. Always confused.
Same. I was thinking hardwires/d, bogeyed and bogeys.
I thought surely hardwire/s/d would work
Harbor Ridgeways
Same, very quickly.
Me too! Thought I might be the only one with this.
Easy for me because our Harbour City has a street called The Ridgeway.
14/3
BRIDGES—SHOW—WAY
HERB—BAWDY—YOGIS

For a while all I had was Bosh Her Ridgeway. Efficient? Maybe. Surreal? Definitey!
Another Abridges Showy – quick (for a change) and maximally efficient. Surprised it wasn’t the OA, but delighted by the variety and multiplicity of submissions!
Same here! Didn’t see Babyish, would have liked that.
Another combo is abhor and ridgeways
BOGEYED – DISHWARE*. Utterly bizarre that LB doesn’t know that DISHWARE is a word. It’s only in every English-language dictionary.
I just read that LB uses the OED for its approved words. So I searched “dishware” on the OED website and nothing came up! This may explain a lot of our daily head scratchers (grom is a word but dishware isn’t?), but it’s rather shocking.
That’s really interesting. You’re right, “dishware” does not appear to be in the OED! It is in Collins and Webster, though, in addition to being on the Scrabble word lists. But I recall LB not accepting “crampy” once upon a time, and crampy *is* in the OED, so the mystery deepens…
Also, I just checked and “jaguarundi” is also not in the OED, and yet it was part of the all-time most evil puzzle solution a couple of years ago. Bernie will surely remember that! I am still traumatized.
I don’t remember the word now, but there was one not too long ago that had to do, I think, with soccer maybe in a South American country. I doubt that one is in it either.
Goldie. The vuvuzela puzzle??
Yes, Jaguarundi scarred many of us permanently. We were, and remain, Verklempt.
Why did someone have to bring Vuvuzelas into the conversation? Now I hear them again. The horror, the horror!
drawbridges – showy
rowdyish – harborage
At night, when the bars close down,
Brandy walks through a silent town…
RIDGEWAYS SHOWBAG for me
Yet another abridges showy – went for shadowy but ended up with showy which worked anyway.
I missed ABRIDGES, got ABSORB BRIDGES SHOWY (18/3), then a few more 3w’s, finally quit with WIRY YOGA ABASHED for a 15/3 one.
A super-callused fragile mystic plagued by halitosis?
Sorry, that’s HEXED by halitosis!
