    1. Same here. At least it came fairly quickly; yesterday I failed to come up with anything in the time I allow myself. Seems there are many, many good answers with this array. Dognap! Fingerpaint! And the wonderful Tapdancing Gofer, surely today’s prizewinner.

    1. PERFECTING – GONAD here as well. I quite regret missing out on GOAD (as I still prioritize efficiency), but GONAD at least provides thematic coherence in return.
Happy to have serenely glided through this one, after yesterday’s exhausting -& exhaustive- session.

  1. Yeah, I was super surprised to find that when I randomly added “ing” to “perfection” it worked! Was ready for a long slog but got it within about 20 words.
    PERFECTIONING GAD

  2. PERFECTING – GOAD came quickly, so I played around for a few minutes and found the strangely satisfying FINGERPAINTING – GEODIC.

  3. PERFORATING – GEODIC. Possible image of rock-like object thrown a window? Hint: squint really hard and click heels together three times. . .

  4. I had a long word list before I finally came up with a solution (perfecting-goad) haha:
CRATER CRATING DANGER DIAPER DICTION DRAINING DRAPER DRAPING DREADING FICTION FIERCER FINGER FORCER GADGET INFECTION PAGEANTER PANTER PAINTER PAINTING PANTING PERFECTER PERFECTION PETITION PETITIONING RAIDING RANGER RADIATION RECOGNITION RECORDING REINFECTION REPETITION TAPER TRAIN TRAINING TREADING

      1. Similarly, Hazardful Lineup (for criminal suspects). But the real mystery is, will we ever see comments for November 30 as such? I believe this is the second time this month a day got skipped – in that case, permanently.

    1. UNHELPFUL – LIZARD here as well. I got off to a bad start having PRELUDIN disallowed & then been unable to marry up UNZIP, LINEUP, DRAINPIPE, INFLUENZA(L), PRELUDIZE, ADRENALIZE, FINALIZED, PENALIZED, DUALIZE or even FUNERALIZED, as well as HELPFUL and LIZARD (!), the two of which I consequently revisited to get the thing over the line.
Is it me hitting a rough patch, or are the puzzles getting more involved? Either way, re-evaluating my strategy and seeking ANY two-word solution (instead of efficiency being my prime concern) may just save precious time going forward.

*PRELUDIN I was familiar with from a Pavlov’s Dog album track (which also includes ‘Late November’), and LIZARD is a brilliant King Crimson album title, so Prog-Rock did, after all, do the heavy lifting in this one (attaching significance to coincidence is my favourite pastime, hence I was thrilled by Bernie’s term APOPHENIA the other day)…

      1. Yes, Apophenia, an interview useful word/concept I learned from a podcast last year about the origins of Q and its many conspiracies. The basic idea is that Q is actually an online role-playing game, continuously created by the players themselves without their knowledge.
I must check out Pavlov’s Dog, thanks for the tip! In the meantime, because no good deed goes unpunished, here just for you are some parody lyrics spouse and I wrote many years ago, to the tune of Frankie Valli’s old hit Candy Girl:
Pavlov’s Dog, never went to school
He hears a bell, then he starts to drool
        He’s tied up
        And wired up
He can’t run in the park
        Or bark (bark!), bark (bark!)
        Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
        Pavlov’s dog…

    Slim pickings today apparently. 👎🏻

    My “unpairables”:
    ADRENAL(IZE)(D)
    FUNERAL(IZE)(D)
    INFIDEL
    INFLUENZA
    PENALIZE(D)
    FRENZIED
    (UN)HELP(FUL)

    1. DENAZIFIED was even accepted, but I couldn’t pair it with anything. Eventually stumbled upon UNHELPFUL LIZARD (the unofficial official?).

  6. Maybe the unhelpful lizards are messing with the system? I did not do well but got a lot of nice words. My best solution was 4 words: HAZARD DUPLE EDIFIED DIN.

  7. Happy St. Andrew’s Day, too, and a special shout-out to Andrew from NZ who hasn’t been posting here for a while; all the best, if you’re still tuning in!
