The answers are:
ASKEWWHIRLYBIRD
hybrids-sawlike
Same.
HYBRIDS – SAWLIKE here as well. WHISKE(R)Y, BRAWLS, HYDRA, SKYWARD, SKYWALKER, LABRID, WEAKLY, BREAD, HEARD, WARLIKE were a few I considered in the process.
whisker readably
… as I rub my chin and try to find some good words here.
Me too!
YES! Finally – long past the coffee and just shy of my first sip of wine 🙂 No, don’t worry, I’ve done a few other things in between…. 🙂
Everyone here is so very entertaining. I love puzzle people.
Whisker Readably
Accidentally tapped here instead of the puzzle and saw askew before I could help myself. Thankfully it was not a one solution day.
I tried haywires and bearably before seeing whisker-readable.
WHIRLYBIRDS – SKYWALKER
Foe me, SKYWALKER wasn’t accepted. Does acceptance vary by. . .something? Country? Browser? Just curious.
Skywalker didn’t work for me either and I meant readably in my previous post.
beakheads – swirly
WHIRLYBIRDS – SAKE after spending far too much time trying to do something with BREWSKI 🇨🇦 🍺
Whirlybirds Sake Here as well. I was surprised but pleased to see Whirlybird in the official answer. Admittedly the official one, with its intimations of imminent disaster, is better thematically than ours.
I wanted to use BREWSKI too, but a two word solution eluded me. Settled for REHAB BREWSKI IDYL (or IDYLS).
… We are still looking for an answer with thematic integrity. Who will be our hero today??
See my earlier reply. The official answer has it for once.
whirlybird – drakes
Best I could do.
HYBRIDISES SKYWALK
WHIRLYBIRD – DRAKES … helicopter ducks 🚁 🦆
It was ultimately determined to be an encounter with ducks that set the helicopter askew and doomed it…
I was very disappointed that the one-word solution to the November 13 Letter Boxed was not listed on the NYT Games website. Are one-word solutions not allowed? Is there any way to put the question to NYT?
I’ve also noticed that they often provide a two-word solution that has more characters in it than the one I come up with. Do they go for better-sounding solutions over shorter ones?
