      1. Nice! Was really irritated I couldn’t finish Telepathize. Somehow managed to get the OA. Pulled Quetzal out of my backside. No idea what that word means. I’m about to look it up and find out. And really didn’t think that was how you spell Linchpin. But a win is a win.

        1. Thanks! I liked it too. I don’t think I’ve ever used that form before though. Telepathy, telepathic, telepathically, yes, but not telepathize. 👍

        2. Samuel Hanwich

Pretty much the same here, almost didn’t even bother with LINCHPIN spelled that way, and saw QUETZAL in the leftovers. Couldn’t really remember what it meant until I looked it up, just knew it sounded vaguely Aztec, but tried it and was surprised it was accepted.

    1. I spent a long time on (UN)EQUALIZE and a couple of other likely suspects before my birdbrain took flight with
      QUETZAL LINCHPIN

      1. Thats a good answer. Should have seen QUETZAL (my cat’s name) but got really stuck on EQUALIZE
        TEQUILA
        AQUILINE
        ELEPHANT
        ENCHANT
        CHALAZA (CHALAZIA*)

        darn the P!

        1. Hard same, so it took me quite a while to see QUETZAL and then LINCHPIN.

Tried to make it work every which way with equalize.

          OA, in far too long!

        2. You named your cat after a bird? I love naming pets after other animals. We had a cat named Pig. I also once knew someone who had a dog named Turtle.

    1. Chaptalize Equine

Which evolved from backing into the first word (unknown to me) by cobbling together leftover letters while trying to pair equalize.

  1. Well done you experts. I’d never have got this so pleased to bail out on three. Tantalize equip patch and I used the dreaded …ize suffix. The day will get better, I hope…maybe it will rain!

    1. Yes, that was me. Thought of LINCHPIN for a second, but would have spelled that with LY . . ., so didn’t even type it in.

  2. CHAPTALIZE-EQUINE though I suspect that once the first word is found, there are many second words that will complete the solve.

  3. QUETZAL — LINCHPIN

Spent 30 minutes trying to get EQUALIZE or QUINZE to pair (both used up the Q and Z) but I find that there are way fewer words starting with E that I can readily think of! 🙂

  4. I went with OA, but had been feeling brave I would have tried Zequin Napthalenic. Our Miriam reckons they’re both valid…

  5. Blew it today. Tried to match CINQUANT with TELEPATHIZE but no go. Only CINQUANTE is in use. That led to

TELEPATHIZE EQUIPATHIC.* But I could only find Equipathic used one time in an obscure book on Amazon natives by someone named Buchet.

Mark found CLINQUANT which is a word I did not know.,

    Submitted
    QUINCUNCIAL LET TELEPATHIZE

  6. Tried epiphaniize cinephiles linchpin punchline palanquin incipient phthalate epaulet Chautauqua lunch pail leucine punctual eyhicize Phil nuchal what h lineup tuneup and others
