After finding those I wondered if GUMBO was an essential single word in today’s solution set. I think this situation has arisen before and has been discussed. Along that line I searched deeper to see if that is true today. It is not, because:

is a solution, making GUMBO nonessential. Interesting LB tangent concept.

Prefer BACKFIRING GUMBO because if its postprandial implications.

I would really not recommend eating any of the Cajun food appearing in Letter Boxed. I had previous solves with GUMBO-OXIDATION and JAMBALAYA-ARTIFACTS, and now BACKFIRING-GUMBO. None of those sound very wholesome!
