      1. Yeah, that’s MY line, MVUA!
OA here – how Hopper persuaded his subjects to pose. I suspect it’s a one-off.

        1. Tribute, Bernie and DW.
I was familiar with Hopper and didn’t even know it. I enjoyed viewing and reading about his works today. Thanks Jill!

    1. Or an Edward Hopper forgery?
(I was just at the Chicago Art Institute on Sunday. Nighthawks is the most visited painting in their collection.)

  1. Radioactive Flower

    TML
    IPH
    RCS
    AEO

TI: the dangerous smog in the air

PS: OA aside, this litterboxed is also something.

      1. Radioactive Flower

        Mr.MarkieMarkup,

Brilliant, you got it! PETROCHEMICALS, indeed! Wow! Extra bonus on THERMOPLASTIC too. 👍🤓

  2. I guess I learned something new today (that COZEN is a legit English word). Found NIGHTHAWK and it was a hail Mary from there.

    1. Same. NIGHTHAWK came quickly. Played around with the other letters and randomly landed on COZEN. But I’ll take the win.

  3. COZEN—NIGHTHAWK
The OA, with good TI, yes, but
    NONCITIZEN—NIGHTHAWK
saves it from being a singular solution.

Minimal triples (14/3), which are a good way to learn new words:
    CAWK—KNIGHT—TOZE
    COZE*—EIGHT—TWANK*
    THWACK—KEG—GINZO
    TOGA—ACKNEW*—WHIZ
    WACK—KNIGHT—TOZE*
    WANZE*—EIGHT—TOCK*

  4. Found COZEN (just guessed it) but didn’t see NIGHTHAWK. Didn’t even see NIGHT, which is embarrassing hehe.
    My 3: THWACK KETOGENIC COZ

  5. Not seeing it today. I really wanted THWACK to work, as it dispatches so many possibly-problematic letters at once. . .

    1. OA today. I had THWACK for a while too but couldn’t complete with it. Then eventually CITIZEN-NIGHTHAWK and pretty quickly found how to use the O. (I missed NONCITIZEN though!) I did recognize “cozen” because I believe I’ve seen it in Shakespeare, though it turns out with a different meaning than I had thought.

  6. First word I saw was Night. Later I saw Cozen. Failed to combine those two to see what was left. That’s all on me.

  7. OA here, and really quickly, at least for me. But I had an advantage – I do Shakespeare for a living, and he used the word COZEN all the time!

  8. Normally would get the Z word first and work backwards. Had a bunch of them. But wasn’t until I got Nighthawk that Cozen became apparent.

  9. I have never heard of COZEN in my life. Glad I called it. Even if I’d futzed around with this puzzle all day I wouldn’t have gotten it.

  10. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

** Don’t look at the list if you haven’t finished solving the puzzle **

(The first number is a count and the second number is the number of letters used)

    1 – 14 cozen / nighthawk
    2 – 19 noncitizen / nighthawk

    3 – 13 genizot* / thwack
