Speaking of train of thought, Pincers Subway is a chronic problem for women on public transport. ..
Same here, and thankfully quickly. Only got sidetracked by PECUNIARY for just a little bit.
Pecuniary side-tracked me for too long, and I ran out of time. 😖 (Well, parsnip(s) was a brief detour too)
Here, too.
Pincers Subway
Props to Steph over on March 13 with an early official!
Isn’t it weird that the official solver “wakes up” at variable times?
It’s a known mix-up, recurring whenever there’s a time change
Ooooh -of course!
Got to the official solution pretty quick, off the back of BINARY, AIRBUS, and REBUS -& regressed to 4½ at LBF (to be expected, kind of).
Come to think of it, the official answer loosely relates to the story about that dishonoured and unrepentant glam-rock forefather having been recalled to prison after dark web content was found on his phone.
The more lengthy unsubscribes-spyware.
LOVE the TI thoughhhh
Thanks! I was just glad both words were accepted.
Aww man! I tried SUBSCRIBE, SUBSCRIBER, SUBSCRIBERS, UNSUBSCRIBE and UNSUBSCRIBES but couldn’t find a partner for any of them. Well done!
I’m tired of LB rejecting perfectly good words, and so it was with Spinus – a genus of birds, which would have made for CYBERWARS SPINUS.
SPINUS isn’t playable in Scrabble either. I suspect because genus names are proper nouns. Great birds, though!
I think we should start thinking that it’s a double win for creativity finding words not on the LB list! If you can find a definition it’s a win!
Cyberwars is a killer find.
Quick official here today. Can’t believe I didn’t spot SUBWAY!
Must run to a conference, so I don’t have a lot of time for bird hunting. SWAN and PIPIPI jump out, but I’m sure there are others (including the entire genus SPINUS! H/T PG!)
I found SNIPE!
CUB—BYRES—SWAN—NIP
CUB—BRAW—WYES—SNIP
WYES—SCRAP—PIN—NUB
WARY—YEP—PICS—SNUB
CUB—BYRES—SPIN—NAW
NUB—BYRE—EPICS—SAW
PYRE—ECUS—SWAN—NIB
WRAP—PYE—ECUS—SNIB
incubus – spyware
didn’t spot INCUBUS, got BUNS SPYWARE EPIC for my best shortest guess.
Like others, I quickly found Subway, and then Pincers followed. It’s an improvement on the official for length if not TI, and after days of struggle the alacrity with which it appeared was a great relief.
I did manage to solve Wordle in two words two days in a row, which salved my LB wounds (even though it’s just luck at that early stage).
Two words for Wordle always feels like an achievement, luck or not. Well done!
I did manage Wordle in one word, randomly starting with Atone. Spent much of the day marveling. 😆
Cue “Once in a Lifetime”
PINCERS – SUBWAY for me as well, nice quick solve today.
