Official.
musical specialist in the North Pole
Official here, as well, almost immediately after taking the preliminary steps of spotting the basic prefixes & suffixes (OVER-, -ABLE, -PHOBE), LIVE, FIBER, FRAIL, PREVAIL, INFO(BAHN), and PHONE which automatically pointed me to the solution.
Pretty much the same process here, ending in the official solution.
Same. It’s been Official all the way of late!
other affixes were -OVER-, -PHOBIA, and -PHILE (OENOPHILE didn’t ‘pair’ well)
Had to take some time off before it finally came to me.
I was delighted to find this, and surprised that it was the official answer!
Failed. Gave up after PARAPHERNALIA-ABOVE with no F
This one took a while today but I eventually got there. Got stuck on HALFPIPE for the longest time.
One bird today: RAVEN.
went with halfpipe/ebon/never
Spotted PHONE immediately then PHONIER then VIBRAPHONE in less than 2 minutes. Chuffed with that.
Tried -over, -Phil -phile, -able, realized f placement seemed very difficult. Elfin was great only use I could find for the f. Tried phone and it was all over. Official.
Is fivepin a scrabble word?
A brief search indicates it’s a playable UK (not US) Scrabble word. You seemingly stand a better chance with FIVEPINS (but it’s probably for DW to evaluate that particular one).
Fivepin is a common game here in Canada. Great fun, actually! I know it’s not in the Merriam-Webster Scrabble dictionary, but I trust Sota that it is playable in the UK.
Official
I thought Epiphanal should be accepted though.
Official.
Add to DW’s bird list: plover.
Official. But with some help.
Tried to make bipolar and -able words without success
Official – very quickly today
wow – showing my musical ignorance here – never heard of vibraphone! Tried to get phenobarb to work with a few dozen other failed attempts. Tomorrow is another day 🙂
They’re usually called ‘vibes,’ for what it’s worth. (My brother used to play them.)
You may want to check out the late great Lionel Hampton!
An absolute giant, so many other legends (Milt Jackson, Gary Burton, Roy Ayers to name but a few) stood on the shoulders of! Thanks for spicing up the discussion with those eclectic vibes, Bernie!

Stumped again, my closest was 3 words: PHONIER REVIVABLE ELF
