OA after brief search for word ending with —LIZER
OA after failing with ACQUIRE and MEZUZAH.
LACQUER / RHIZOME Pretty quickly, as well.

OA, quickly. I suspect it’s another one-off, given the highly restricted array. No TI that I can see, but maybe MVUA can come up with something!

Ask and ye shall receive. Mvua stepping up to the plate!
I spent lots of time trying get ALCOHOLIZE, AQUARIUM, REMORALIZE, LOCALIZER, and/or HEROICIZE to work, so forgot about suffixes and found RHIZOME right away and worked backwards for LACQUER.
OA but not quick for me either. Was certain LIQUORICE , then HUMORIZE, would be part of the solution.
Theme: assignment in a back-to-nature sculpture class?
LIQUORICE leaves letters to make MEZUZAH, but no way to connect:(
MOHEL also led nowhere. Mr Ezerzsky was not using Yiddish (or is it Hebrew? 🧐 ) today
MEZUZAH and MOHEL are both Hebrew, but the LB dictionary tends to accept anything Yiddish as well.
Why are you now Original Steph? Did a Steph-come-lately show up?
Yes- another Steph was permitted 🤷🏻♀️ a few weeks ago and I wanted my own voice. Now they are gone. Temporarily?
BTW Original Steph spent some time being “in moderation” by the site before they let me use the new moniker.
Props to OG Steph!
I am glad to know that you’re you!!
i agree! 😎🌺
OA quite quickly. I was already in a horticultural frame of mind, so Rhizome came easily.
Ooff … Eliminated RH- as a starter without B or T
Ended with HUMORAL-LOCALIZER-RIQ (19/3)
OA though kind of liked the sound of hazel liquorice emu
CLAQUER°—RHIZOME
LACQUER—RHIZOME
And some very common, everyday words 😉 :
HOLOZOIC°—CIRCUMQUAQUE°
HELIOZOIC°—CIRCUMQUAQUE°
° OED
claquer, n. A hired applauder.
Super hard today. Didn’t find RHIZOME which is a word I’m really unfamiliar with so I’m not gonna beat myself up about that. What sacked about today’s puzzle was that after giving up on finding a 2, I couldn’t even find a 3 which is extremely rare for me.
My solution: OHM MEL LACQUER REALIZE
The only other words I found: QUARE, QUALE, QUALM, REALIZER, AQUA, AQUARIUM, HERO/IC/IZE, COLOR/IZE/R, LOCALIZE/R, LIQUORICE, LIQUOR and REHOME.
My solution:
sucked*
Same here. Never heard of RHIZOME! Got LACQUER quickly but couldn’t figure it out. HAZEL-LIQUORICE-EMU for me today.
When you have bamboo on your property rhizome is a word you get to know
OA. Figured it would be. On the way, I found Cirque was accepted, although I’m uncertain why.
Rhizome always sets me off on an Accepted/Rejected rant. Botany: Rhizome but not Corm? Carpentry: Ogee but never Dado? There are other categories inconsistently represented. But it’s been long enough since I vented that I’ve forgotten all of them 🙂
Almost got no answers at all, not even 4w’s until at last I got two 3w’s with RHIZOME and entered ACQUIRER RHIZOME ELM. Tried Rhizome to start with but just couldn’t make any words with the leftover letters, somehow didn’t see Lacquer.
lacquer – rhizome
OA. But definitely a struggle.
OA
I found LACQUER quickly but couldn’t see a solution, then thought QUEAZIER would get me somewhere but if was deemed ‘not a word’ so I gave up and came here. If only I’d spotted RHIZOME!
I struck out today thus ending my 17 day streak of two-word solutions.
My best effort:
HAZEL-LIQUORICE-EMU
Failed as well. Ended with the same 3.
OA Finally after paying attention to that pesky H
Struck out today, and should’ve known to give up sooner. Had LACQUER almost immediately, but RHIZOME was not in my orbit, so I was drawing dead. Had hopes for MEMORIZE and HUMORIZE, but they obviously led nowhere.
LACQUER RHIZOME
the OA for me as well.
But, before that I found the word OLOLIUQUI, which i never heard of before but LB took it right off the bat. So then i fiddled around trying to get matches to it and i think my best was:
OLOLIUQUI ICER RHIZOME EAR
the TI on this might be something like a high Mayan who freezes the roots of morning glories to use as hearing aids … yes, very strange, i know. 😎
at first i was guessing OLOLIUQUI is a Hawaiian 🌺 or Polynesian word, but it’s not …
Just a general note, from thumbing through the posting times, it looks like pretty much everyone slept in this Saturday except RF, and RF is in the 🇵🇭 where it’s already a very reasonable 3pm?, i think, when the new puzzle hits.
Hey, Mr.McBEE 🐝,
YES, I set an an alarm every 3PM when the new puzzle hits. 🤗
😇
i set an alarm to remind me to take medicine … 😎
