    1. NEOHEXYL and CYCLOHEXYL are great finds. Tried to pair PICKMEN but failed. My question is, why is CYCLOHEXYL accepted and not CYCLOHEXENE (C6H10), both are equally valid chemistry terms?

  1. Radioactive Flower

    OA. In 4 minutes.

Looking forward to see the solutions of my besties Miss Irim and Kanishk-boy.

    1. Congrats on the fast solve, RF! OA here too but it took me a good 30 minutes. I was sure there was some obscure term hidden somewhere – can’t believe I didn’t see CHICKENPOX immediately! Extremely restrictive array.

Love that the OA has X as the pivot letter – not something you come across everyday. Tried to connect POLYHEX, OXYMEL, HENPECK, and LOCKMEN. Was almost on the verge of giving up but kept pushing anyway. Glad I didn’t give up!

Irim, we’re waiting for you! Can’t wait to see what you got.

      1. Slapping myself for not seeing CHICKENPOX immediately, given that I had a bad case of it at 11!

After half-hearted stabs with OLYMPIC and HYPOXIC, I saw CYCLOHEXYL and LIMPKIN (though I had a moment where I thought two letters might be on the same side) and that’s my solution.

CYCLOHEXYL-LIMPKIN (hurrah for birdwatching friends) in just under 10. Wish I’d seen CHICKENPOX, because then I would have had a word starting with X.

Well done, lovelies, we triumph again and early (for me!) on a Sunday. Off to church now. Good luck, everyone, and happy Sunday!

  2. OA.

    And POLYMYXIN* NICHELIKE**
    *OED, MW etc
**”Historical Dictionary of Romantic Art and Architecture.” 2011 (among many examples)

      1. OA after 50 something other tries . I was going to go with polymyxin nichelike if hadnt seen chickenPOX at last . Or chip polymyxinlike

  3. Catherine Gardiner

I saw Chickenpox immediately…it was not hard to miss.
That left the LM & Y left with the next word ending with C. I found Olympic shortly thereafter only to discover that my word was rejected by LB.
So I thought that because Chickenpox was so evident, that it must be a distracted.
End of story, I did not meet with success today.

  4. OA-saw XYLEM and POLYHEX quickly, surprised that CYCLOHEXENE wasn’t accepted. didnt see CHICKENPOX for another 5 or 10 minutes. As far as I’m aware there hasn’t been a solution with an x as the connecting letter in a while.

  5. Other tries: nickeline homecome hiemicycle polycyclic Olympic lincomycin cyclohexene epicycle kilocycle epoxy epicene lycopene policemen pikemen homely nicely polemic pikemen pencil tick Kyle milky milkmen homelike epicycle lockmen henchmen
