Good day LBers! I went through all I that I saw from A to V. I think there may a few more. ☕

      2. Another proof of LB’s erratic word list. EMPYRICAL? Unless I’m mistaken, it’s EMPIRICAL, without a Y – great, now we’ve begun accepting misspelled words now!

        1. Agreed, at first, but then on further examination it does have a different meaning.
empyrical : containing the combustible principle of coal.
I think I have it in my database from my Wiktionary import. I’ll check later since I’ve already shut it down. ☕☕

          1. Wow, I was with Kanishk, but here we are!

            Etymology
From Latin empyricus, from Ancient Greek ἐμπύριος (empúrios, “fiery”), from ἐν (en, “en-”) + πῦρ (pûr, “fire”).

            Adjective
            empyrical (not comparable)

Containing the combustible principle of coal.

    Coverup primarily.

Very appropriate in Scotland, where I live, not to mention others we can no doubt think of!

  2. After an attempt with VOICEMAIL and OVERCLAIM (sadly, words like POLYMERIC, PRIMEVAL, and PYRUVIC were not possible), I got to VERMICULAR-RECOPY, though was gutted that ROPY wasn’t an option, because that would have been perfect.

Took about 10 minutes. Kanishk and RF, look forward to seeing you soon with your solutions – hopefully to get that streak going again!

Vermicular (adjective) – like a worm in movement.

Good luck, everyone, and happy Hump Day!

    1. Radioactive Flower

Failed!!! Gave up after just an hour.

Well done Miss Irim. Checking on Kanishk-boy later.

      1. Oh, I’m so sorry, RF. This week has definitely been brutal – I myself have failed three times this past week. Tomorrow is always a new day and a new puzzle, let’s just hope for the best tomorrow!

Irim, I love your solution! VERMICULAR is a great find. Thought today’s one would be simple looking at the array, but it took me around 30 minutes in total to find a solution. COVERUP – PRIMARILY (OA) here. Played with VOICEMAIL, OVERPLAY and a few other words.

Best of luck to whoever still having a go at this grid, and happy Wednesday to everyone! Let’s hope this evil phase of Sam’s finally comes to an end.

        1. Oh, RF, I’m so sorry! It has been a nightmare week.

Kanishk, well done, hon! And yes, given we had a great grid recently, I’d love to see that become the norm.

          Have a lovely evening, both!

          1. Irim, I really hope so too, but I don’t think that’s going to happen any time soon – the Spelling Bee that day contained the letter ‘S’, the third instance ever recorded so far.

That got me thinking… was it because of a special occasion? I did some research, and yes, it was – it was Sam’s birthday.
            😂

      1. Hi Simon,
I went through Alice Liang’s solver, and it seems like one of the valid solutions uses EVERYPLACE:
        PLUMICOME – EVERYPLACE

“A plumicome is a specialized biological term for a spicule (a small, needle-like skeletal structure) that features delicate, plume-like tufts or feather-like branches. It is primarily used in biology to describe the intricate structures found in certain marine organisms.”

        -according to ChatGPT

        1. Kanishk — that is a great find. Never saw that word before. But then I didn’t look “everyplace.”
