Honestly surprised this was the OA. Was searching for something to pair with YAKISOBA, and then thought back to what I might do with MORBIDITY (my first ‘false lead’ of the day). Once I stumbled on COMORBIDITY, it was clear that my second word could be shorter.
So, I suppose one alternative is COMORBIDITY–YAKISOBA, but it doesn’t really have anything more to boast about in the TI department.
OA and I’m surprised it is the OA. Guess we heard it a lot during the 😷

CYSTS – SKIMBOARD, as Bernie above. A lot of false starts, and a lot of potential solutions barred by IC/ AC/ TO combinations. I also tried to find something to go with BASTARDY without success.
OA after much time wasted on CORKBOARD, STARBOARD, SMARTY, and every random letter combination I could try adding to ROCK and DOCK.
Also gave up on MORBIDITY for a bit before adding the CO, then thankfully realized YAKS was left over (I usually assume the Y-word will be the end word when they show up in puzzles, to my own detriment).
These are just getting too easy now :-))))
Failed after trying all the boards and _ocks as above. Thought maybe I was onto something different with AKIMBO, but no luck. Alas.
