      1. Yes. So which is more cringeworthy: MAJORLY or REWATCH from a few days ago? (Are they real words? Sure. But as I recall Strunk & White had a section devoted to “unusable” words — I think two they cited were BEAUTEOUS and DISCOMBOBULATE. Shouldn’t the editor of Letter Boxed take a page from Strunk & White?)

        1. Definitely agree, but there are thousands of words that are cringe worthy, but still documented in dictionaries. As a game, the LB editor is entitled to formulate the grid anyway they choose. The internal LB “dictionary” is inconsistent to say the least, but I continue to come back every morning to test my skills! As stated by many, I really do prefer days with dozens of solutions so that everyone can contribute a unique solution or two.

        2. Anyone who grew up in the 80s would never doubt “majorly” is a word.

Heather: You’re, like, so lame, Becky.
          Veronica: Majorly.
Heather: Like, what is that you’re even wearing.
Veronica: Yeah, like, gag me with a spoon.
Heather: Totally. Barf me out the door majorly, Becky.
          Becky: 😭

          😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

      1. I too was waylaid Obliquely, but ultimately found my Equilibrium with Majorly. Oxymoronic, no?
I think it’s a one-off, and not a very satisfactory one. Bound to cause grumbling.

        1. OA after also trying to connect OBLIQUELY. Is JARMO a board game? (Only reference I could find besides the archaeological site.) Were you already familiar with it, or just stumble across it trying letter combinations? (One of my go-to strategies… )

          1. Yes, Samuel, another stumbled onto. I saw the proper name instance all over the place. That was my dagger †’s meaning. I should have stated that more clearly. Not a ‘true’ solution. I like the combinatorial nature of LB.

  1. EQUILIBRIUM — MAJORLY

I rarely get the OA unless it’s an SSS. I couldn’t think of any words with JQU (the hard letters) so I looked for JMY (the other hard letters) and got MAJORLY. Worked backwards for words ending in M, and EQUILIBRIUM was very apparent.

    1. It’s when two of the highest point value tiles in Scrabble (J, Q, X & Z) are used in one puzzle that there is the greatest chance of a SSS. By using only one of the four big tiles per puzzle there would be a lot less likelihood of a SSS and more possibilities for multiple solutions.

      1. Yes, and when there are three high-value letters, it tends to direct one’s thinking toward a two-word solution more efficiently. That is, if ‘x,’ ‘y,’ and ‘z’ are on the box, I’ll think of possible words with x and y, x and z, and then z and y. Usually find a solution before my second cuppa.

  2. EQUILIBRIUM-MAJORLY…
Strunk & White Spent their day off surfing and then went home to rewatch Netflix and chill… really reset the their chakras, dude.

  3. Oh yeah. Good find. “Ajumble” is definitely word. Letter Boxed’s consistency in determining what words are acceptable is all ajumble.
