OA after seeing the -MENT suffix. Quick solve today. I suspect another singular solution.
9/11 (!), 36/42
High five! I was settling in for a long day trying to solve it. Kicked off with TECHNIQUE, then EQUITY, and half jokingly thought, eh, I need breakfast, let’s try QUICHE and went ‘No, no, surely it’s not that quick!’ But so it was, and QUICHE ENJOYMENT rules the day. All in all, a 5 minute solve.
I’ll be *dining off* that all day!
Well done! Good for you for spotting TECHNIQUE — I completely missed it!
I’m so dumb. TECHNIQUE isn’t possible because of the T-E juxtaposition! *slaps forehead*
Yeah, sorry, I should have been clearer that I was thwarted in using technique. But yesterday’s grid was downright mean.
Agreed. Yesterday’s was evil.
OA Lorraine, you are so savory.
This comment seems a bit scrambled and overcooked in the midst of your conversation. Not to explain the yoke, but Lorraine is a bacon quiche and, well, being a cheesy tart is the definition.
I was totally with you MVUA. Yesterday was tough, but I was saved by dint of having a bit of a raunchy or Ribald sense of humor. Today was pretty straightforward and I got to the OA in relatively short order. As for overall difficulty in general, I’d say it’s so unpredictable from day to day. Also depends on player’s backgrounds. Like for me, as a surgeon, oviduct was literally the first word I saw in the grid. But as somebody who is not religious, and going to Temple and not church on the rare occasions where I am Cherubim is a word I had literally never seen. So I would agree that the grids have been more restricted, but I would say that the majority of times where I haven’t been able to solve the puzzles it’s because the words are so esoteric. 40/42, 11/11, 14, 16
OA, too.
8/11.
37/42.
QA VERY QUICK
OA, but QUOTIENT was a distraction.
OA here too. Got enjoyment first and quiche as the starter was obvi.
Can you explain how you are recording stats…I’m slow😉
Enjoyment, then Quiche, as well
8/11 – streak for the month of Feb.
37/42 – streak since Jan. 1
I enjoy quiche as well!
Quick OA, thankfully
Quiche Enjoyment
Quiche Enjoyment
OA in a few. Saw enjoyment first.
OA. Finally saw the light after jettisoning JITNEY, QUOTIENT and CHEQUE.
“Real men don’t ENJOY quiche.”?
Ooh. Jitney was a good spot.
Thx. Tried CINQUIEME too.
OA quickly.
QUICHE / ENJOYMENT
