  1. A ’round the back’ approach to this one; I spotted QUARTZ right from the off, then QUIZ, PITCH, then the possible prefixes & suffixes (APO-, PRO-, -IZE), THEOCRAT (THEOCRATIZE was not accepted the way DEMOCRATIZE is, for instance), EPOQUE which pointed to EPOCH which, in turn, led me to think about converting QUARTZ into QUARTZITE.

    1. I too had hopes for Theocratize and was sad to see it rejected… Eventually hit on the official answer through a process much like yours, Sota. Is this another single-solution?
Other finds along the way: Quietize (really?), Critique, Quartet, Trapeze, Pique, Piquet, Pratique, Theorize, Croquet, Coquet, Quiche, Churchize (again, really?), Corporatize, Prioritize.

      1. I’m also in the triple league with “PIRATIZE-ECHO-OPAQUE”. I think PIQUEUR was a nice find on my way, but E as first letter is always hard, at least for me.

  2. Never heard of QUARTZITE but tried it and was pleasantly surprised. Was delighted when it worked with EPOCH which I had just found prior. Had highish hopes for QUIETIZE which I had also never heard of. Relieved to have managed this one. Luck was on my side today hehe.

  3. Sad to see PIQUET – TROCHOZOA not allowed. My marine biology professor would rail against this travesty.

Finally spotted the official and kudos to Tim for finding ORTHOQUARTZITE – some serious geological thinking going on there, and a new word for me!
