NIGHTJARSSEXY
OA and yes first word was just a guess for me 🤷🏻♀️
thought a NIGHTJAR was a chamber pot, but apparently it is a bird? will wait for DW to weigh in….
NIGHTJARS – SEXY…
Also known as bugeaters and goatsuckers; so very alluring.
It is actually pretty magical to hear the Eastern whip-poor-will call in the evening.
Also with names like: Chuck-will’s-widow and Whip-poor-will, I doubt that Will is super thrilled about them.
… Not sure how sexy they are, though. https://flic.kr/p/2iZPqvJ
They don’t even SOUND sexy! 😄
Definitely some of the funkiest birds out there!
NIGHTJARS – SEXY
First word I saw. Sounded familiar and it covered the J, so I went with it. Also assumed it was a chamber pot. Disappointed that it wasn’t. 🙂
NIGHTJARS / SEXY
I think we all know that NIGHTJARS aren’t real.
A guess for me too. First I tried JARNIGHTS and when that wasn’t accepted I figured “What the heck” and flipped the compound word around. I struggled with SYNTAX/SYNTAXES but couldn’t figure out how to use the J. So from there I was just making stuff up.
OA but it’s BS! 😞
Sigh… I gave up today and took a loss with
RAJAS SYNTAXES SIGH
I finally stumbled my way to Nightjars and the OA after an hour playing with…
Regenerates, Retightens, Heightens, Entertains, Syntaxes/Syntaxis, Satyr/Satyriasis, Anxiety, Thrashers, Transient, Insanity, Intersexes, Ninjas, Ganja.
Very bummed that “eightysix” wasn’t accepted given its non numerical meaning too. And, “eightyninth” to a lesser extent.
Nightjar and either Sexy or Syntaxes
Also,
NIGHTJAR—SYRINXES
from MW: syrinx, noun. the vocal organ of birds that is a special modification of the lower part of the trachea or of the bronchi or of both. ☕
I meant NIGHTJARS—SYRINXES.
I just wanted to see if you all were paying attention. 😉
It’s a regular line I pull with my students when they catch a mistake I make on the whiteboard. 👨🏻🏫
🥱
Nice! Came up with NIGHTJARS and SYNTAXES
Good one Nicole. I was going that route until I stumbled on SYRINX, which seemed to be a good match for the bird. 🙂
NIGHTJARS-SEXAGENARY
Now that’s an old bird!
👍
OA. First time I solved with my first try!
An LB short story, brought to you by the letter R.
The RAGTAG REGENERATRIX has RISEN. Her RANT begins, as she RINSES and RETRAINS her RETINAS. She REGAINS, REGATHERS, REINITIATES, REITERATES, RETRIES, and RETIGHTENS. Her RESIGHT is a RARITY.
🦸🏻
🙏
Oa
OA.
OA, and happy to win. I had nightjar once a year ago and it didn’t win a round somehow.
NIGHTJARS — SEXAGENARY
Played with TRANSIENT and INTRANSIGENT
LB didn’t accept JYNX or JYNXES, and I was bummed to find out that ANTIANXIETY is actually hyphenated.
OA. Also played with intransigent and exigent and tried jynx to now avail. Like the idea that a sexy sexagenary is too sexy for even one nightjar, let alone two!
OA. Remembered Nightjar from my rather casual birding.
nightjars – sexy
Nightjars — Sexy and surprised it was the OA
OA, but are they?
OA, but chalk me up as another “guessed and figured it was a chamberpot before looking it up after the solve.” 🚽🐦⬛🤷♂️
