The answers are:
PODIUMMACKEREL
MUCKUP PERIODICAL
Like me with these puzzles!
I went with Mockup Periodical, which I think is actually a thing, unlike a Podium Mackerel (although the latter could be a particularly stiff politico – name your favorite here).
Again great minds think alike. Mockup-periodical.
I was also thinking clockmaker but it didn’t pair well.
MOCKUP PERIODICAL for me.
A three-word solution just for fun:
plum – melodic – clockmaker
Yep, same here. Figured it would be the official, tho.
Mouldier-Repack
Same here. Had mackerel right off but could not see my way to podium. Then mouldier repack appeared.

Me too. And only about the 4th word I tried! Makes up for the infuriating ones.
Official here and fairly quickly – 4 sips of coffee in 🙂
official
I began with plumeria, but couldn’t pair it.
MACKEREL – LUPOID 14/2
Mockup periodical
PIECEMAKER—REMOULD
Nice spent a lot of time with remould. Glad you finished it off
DIM—MOCKUP—PALER
14/3
It sounded mysterious, and shadowy, somehow.
EPIC—COLD—DAM—MURK
15/4
Not a good place!
🙂
Am I the only one who got:
JIGTANGLE BARTHOLEMEW?
and
PILOQUEN SHANSHU was wide open too.
I can’t believe I missed those! 😉
Me too. They were just sitting there! Also on offer:
GLUNK PADUNK
CREPE SPAGGATTOM
SHOOTIE CRISP
CREEKHORSE DOLLARMITE
KARIKARI NUMBUNKLE
TWEECROW SHERTONK
COWERING MISMATCH
CRIMEBOSS SPELUNKER
How no one else is getting these is beyond me.
Lots of possibilities, if only we could use the double letters.
I thought UMIAC CLERKDOM was a 13/2, but it was not accepted.
3 words, MERCURIAL LOCKER REPAID; didn’t have a lot of time today, also got PERIODICAL for what it’s worth…
Failed to come up with an accepted solution for this one. Quite a few non-starters like PLUCKER, DOMICAL, DIPLOMA, LOCKER, COUPLER, MELODICA, DREADLOCK, OPIUM, PUMICE, AMUCK, LOCKUP, ADMIRE, CREAM, DREAM, DIALUP, MUCOIDAL, POKER, ECLAIR, CLOCKMAKER, PICKER, PUKER, CAPRIOLE, KELPIE, CUPID, PADLOCK, RELOCK, CLUPEOID, UREMIC, LACEMAKER, ICEPACK, ICEMAKER, RECOUPLE, LUPOID, PREMIA, POLEMIC, RECOUPLE, and LACRIMA, plus a disallowed one that I enjoyed regardless:
PREADAMIC – CUCKOLD 16/2
What a bunch of great words, Sota! I can’t help wondering, though, how a Preadamic Cuckold would even be possible. Brings to mind “And Cain knew his wife”. Where the heck did SHE come from?
Yeah, it’s where both religious beliefs AND familial harmony are put into question, Bernie.
And then they have a son, Enoch, and he builds a city named after himself. By my count there’s only five people on the planet at that point, so the need for a city escapes me….
