LUBAKRSICWTN
The answers are:
BILKKNACKWURST
CLAWBACKS SATURNALIA
Love that. Too tired to do more but had this lovely 1 off SUNBACKS SWIRL LIT
Spectacular! I worked hard after finding CLAWBACKS but never found the second word that would finish it.
Wilt – Turnbacks 13/2
WILT-TURNBACK also.
a basketball move by Mr. Chamberlain?
My answer also. Love the wordplay.
Same. Very quickly as well. Pleasant change from the last couple of days.
WILT – TURNBACKS for me too, and it was mercifully brief compared to yesterday’s slog. Doubly relieved after seeing how insufferable the OA is. 🙄
Same and SAME!!!
WILT-TURNBACKS as well — a sign the garden needs to be watered.
Same here. Pretty quickly.
LAWSUIT – TURNBACK.
Good one Steve. Let’s hope this does not come to pass with the former US president.
Another 13/2, unaccepted in LB, but evidently Scrabble worthy:
CUTBANKS—SWIRL
Pretty decent TI I’d say, especially if giving ‘swirl’ verb attributes.
Oa.
I finally dusted off the Quad component of my Smith program. I’m looking to add some new rhyming logic. These are 16/4 symmetric quads.
Snib & Swack ↘️↘️
SNIB—BAWL—LTR—RUCKS
RUCKS—SNIB—BAWL—LTR
LTR—RUCKS—SNIB—BAWL
BAWL—LTR—RUCKS—SNIB
SWACK—KNURL—LIT—TBS
TBS—SWACK—KNURL—LIT
LIT—TBS—SWACK—KNURL
KNURL—LIT—TBS—SWACK
Swack is a PSW.
☕☕
Mark, if SWACK is PSW, then, i have an entry,
TURBINALS – SWACK
I thought after getting TURBINALS, it’s over with since only three litters left: WCK.
But, ugh…WCK is going nowhere…i can’t link it…SWACK is unaccepted. Imagine my relief after getting TURBINALS…only to be frustrated!
Awesome find. I wish LB was in sync with Scrabble.
Amen to this. Also, just the OA today.
I tried for TURBINALS – SWACK as well. Ended up with KNACKWURST – TRIBAL.
Was disappointing when INSTINCTUAL led to nothing.
Knackwurst Tribal, too. Why was “lackwit” not accepted?
Had to give up again. Realized the insanity of the litterboxed.
I rarely fail twice in a row.
For the OA: Otherwordly. Both words are bizarre for a Filipino like me. If it’s a weird-combo, like knack + wurst, it’s MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. For IDK how to odd! Also, the OA combo has a funny tone. Is he kidding me?
Interestingly, I had a passing thought on WURST. I joking tried WURSTBACK (i thought: PIA Wurztbach, our Filipino Miss Universe). Wurst dismissed.
Before finally giving up, oooh! maybe one of the OA is a difficult word starting with a difficult letter K. So, i spotted KNACK easily going nowhere with it. But, I was clueless that KNACK can be suffixed. Ugh…
I had WURST. Finally had KNACK. ODD! They were neighbors inside my mind. They never intersect.
Ugh…Unbelievable!
P.S. I had 8-day streak getting the OA a few months ago. Now, streaks are rare.
To add to your confusion, knackwurst is a German word. The English version of it is knockwurst.
Oooh,
I see the relevance. Pia Wurztbach is half-German.
WORD PLAY:
4-letter & 5-letter:
_ i_ _ & _u_ _ _
HINT: Husband & Wife
HINT: a LUXURIOUS couple
One more hint please?
Are those the only vowels?
KING & QUEEN
I hope.
Brilliant! Mr.CHECKMARK!
KING & QUEEN, indeed.
Good challenge. Thanks!
You’re welcome! I’m happy you like it.
Extra congrats to anyone who solved with the OA. WILT–TURNBACKS for me, after failing to connect BACKSTAIRS.
Curious: While BACKTALK is accepted, BACKTALKS is not.
Rather than get frustrated with the OA I do try to learn from it. I never would have come up with KNACKworst as I’m only familiar with KNOCKWURST. Here’s what I found out: Knackwurst. Also spelled knockwurst, these are short, plump, garlicky links made with pork and beef, though veal in the mix isn’t unusual…. “Knack” means crack in German, so named for that snap when you bite into the casing.
I did come up with WILT – TURNBACKS and was again surprised by its acceptance, but happy to be spared another long day of banging my head against the desk!
Congrats to all who found a solution! Wouldn’t have got the OA in a month of Sundays. CLAWBACKS – STUNSAIL was as close as I got, but lacked the R (hat tip to DHW above, who succeeded). Still, chuffed to put my Patrick O’Brian vocab to use.
TURNBACKS-SWIRL for me, the feeling I get when following circuitous road detours until I don’t know which direction I’m heading. Could also apply to LB when all those great words lead to dead ends.😵💫
This I like. Perfectly describes my present state of mind.
wilt – turnbacks
Wilt Turnbacks. Thought this must be the dumbest solve ever until I saw the OA. Hmmm.
Never heard of turnbacks before. Here they are switchbacks.
Now I am confused. We call them turnups.
Wilt – Turnbacks. Very unsatisfying. I didn’t know turnbacks was a word…
Is a word like knackwurst not a proper noun? I’m annoyed.
As pointed out earlier, that’s not the English spelling of Knockwurst, so it’s not exactly Kosher (nor is the sausage)…
Couldn’t find a two-worder and refused I to abandon Walnut/s, so settled for various threesomes, eg Backsaw Walnuts Stir (I should think it would!), Walnut Tribals Sack…
Not my day!
No answer today, but enjoyed the discussion!
Turnback Swirl
