MYSTIQUE-EXCAVATE shockingly fast – within 2 minutes, after trying ACQUIESCE before that. Still surprised by that!
Can’t wait to see mah besties, Kanishk and RF, with their solutions.
Good luck, everyone, and congrats and commiserations – and post your threes if you don’t get a two. Happy Tuesday!
Well done, Irim! Just saw your comment. OA in almost 6 minutes, after trying to form words with -ITY and EQUI-.
Waiting for RF – happy Tuesday and good luck to everyone!
OA. But took me a little longer… Distracted by work. Reminds me of the famous sign at Yankee stadium during the 2001 Worlds Series… Mystique and Aura… appearing nightly. 97/104, 13/14, 9, 36

How is Devanagari treating you, Irim? Hope you’re having fun learning the language!
I am loving it, but am getting confused between what Duolingo calls ‘dha’ and ‘Dha’, two different characters, but very similar sound (at least on Duo), so I can’t quite tell the difference. Beginning to pick up vowels!
Thoughts?
dha or ध (which I like to call the ‘soft’ dha) is very similar to sound at the start of “the”, just which extra emphasis or a distinct ‘h’ sound at the end – seen in words like dharma (pronounced dharm in Hindi – you drop the ‘a’ sound at the end (धर्म)) and dhyaan (ध्यान).
Dha (ढ) on the other hand (the ‘hard’ version of ध) is more similar to the english ‘D’ sound as in ‘drum’ rather than the soft ‘d’ sound in ‘the’. Again, with extra emphasis on the ‘h’ at the end – like ढक्कन (lid) and Dhaka.
OK, THANK YOU. The pronunciations aren’t distinct on Duo, so I was like which one is that? They both sound like ‘daal’, so I just went wait, what. And I grew up around Punjabi and Urdu, so I *know* that distinction and should be able to hear that.
Bless you, that’s hugely helpful. LOL, we probably need another discussion board for this!

Mystique & Excavate
Fast solve today. As soon as I saw the ique combination which I was happy to see, I knew that mystique was one of the words. After that, the hunt for an ex word took very little time.
Got it finally, but mildly annoyed that I couldn’t do anything with AQUAVIT.
Hi Irim. I have been learning French on Duo for awhile. I too have noticed that sometimes the pronunciations are less than clear. But, as I gain proficiency, that issue has become less of problem. French verbs on the other hand are“tres difficile”. Have fun learning!
Merci! and you – enjoy…would love to hear about your progress.
Mystique Excavate
OA here too. Loving this week so far. Thanks Sam!
