  1. OA within 5 minutes after trying EARWAX and WALTZERS. As soon as I typed in the delightful Yiddish word ‘KLUTZES’, it was clear.

Looking forward to seeing my besties, Kanishk and RF here, and best of luck to everyone attempted, congrats and commiserations as appropriate. Happy Friday, everyone!

      1. Radioactive Flower

Took me 24 minutes to get the OA. Is Klutzes Yiddish? I came across it from this forum.

Yay!!! The trinity is complete early today. 🤗😊

        1. Radioactive Flower

Ah, Miss Irim said it’s Yiddish. It’s my first time to successfully find the OA with a Yiddish word in it.

        2. Yay, congratulations, both!!

Nice work, RF! Yes, it is – the origin is from the Yiddish ‘klots’ meaning wooden block (easy segue to clumsy person), and earlier from German ‘klos’ meaning ‘lump, block’, again, a clear association. xx

          1. Thanks for the etymology lesson! OA here in the neighborhood of half an hour. Wasn’t a ton that could be done with either the X or the Z as far as I saw. Ersatz, Zealots, and Oxalates were the longest ones I saw. Eventually saw Klutzes , and Waxwork quickly followed. Interestingly, Taxwork and Sexwork were no gos. 93/100, 9/10, 5, 36.

    1. Also OA…
      Waxwork – Klutzes.

Played with zealots, sexual, seawater, saltwater, starwars, sexwork lol.

  2. Saw -WORK immediately, looked up ‘TAXWORK’ to see if it was a word, and it suggested me WAXWORK – I really don’t know if I should count this as a valid solve, even though I think I would’ve gotten WAXWORK – it’s not obscure. KLUTZES I instantly spotted after that.

Waiting for my besties, and good luck to everyone, happy Friday to all!

    1. I’d count it for sure, because looking it up to see if it was a legitimate word is absolutely fair, I think. If it goes, ‘Hmmm, no, did you mean ???’ and you try it, that’s totally fair.

It’s a solve, you accepted the suggestion – you could have gone, ‘nah, I’ll choose something else’. I think this is about learning vocabulary & how we solve things, not purity. Some folks will use word banks, etc.

BTW, after I got it, I checked out Alice’s solver – looks like a singular solve. No surprise with X, K, Z, and W, I guess!

      So, congrats, bestie!

      1. Radioactive Flower

It’s definitely a solve…you will find WAXWORK eventually like me. You only have to change one letter just like I did. First I tried TAXWORK. Changed T to S to SAXWORK. Changed S to W to WAXWORK and surprisingly it was accepted.

    1. INCOGNITO-OBSCURED

BTW, hon, it will amuse you to know that I got Wordle in 3 b/c I misspelled one of our…national games, shall we say? 🤣

      1. Haha, well done, Irim – that happens a LOT with me. My go-to starting word is STARE, and many times I type it in too quick and accidentally enter STARR (which is a valid input? I have no idea what that means). I got it in four today.

And good job! You got the right solution. INCOGNITO – OBSCURED

        1. *snort* The number of times a cousin flicked a striker at my head!

Yes, on the spelling when I type too fast & I’d have assumed starr was invalid as it’s a proper name. Its original use, ‘starr’ (meaning ‘star’) is archaic at best and probably obsolete.

        1. Saw WAXWORKS and WATERWORKS almost immediately, and KLUTZES pretty quickly too, but took a couple of minutes to come back and check if WAXWORK was a legit word without the “S” to get the OA.

  3. Saw WAXWORKS and WATERWORKS immediately, among others, and KLUTZES pretty quickly too… Took a few minutes to wonder if WAXWORK was a word without the “S”… Glad I stuck with it for a couple of extra minutes to get the OA!

  4. WAXWORK KLUTZES
Reminds me of the movie House of Wax.

    Also SEXWORKERS* SALUTZ**
    * not in LB wordlist
** Specialized Medieval poem — “a letter in verse” — sung by troubadours
    Dictionary of Medieval Romance.

  5. Waxwork klutzes, should be the OA. I liked saxwork klutzes-klutzes saxwork better though. Failed in tryouts for Benny Goodman.

  6. WAXWORK—KLUTZES
    (strongly suspected singular solution)
I see an old LB acquaintance today in XEROXES. Wiktionary calls it a genericized trademark. Others in this category would be bandaid, chapstick, photoshop, and velcro. Proper names, initially, that have entered the everyday lexicon.
