The answers are:
DIAPHRAGMMOUNT
PANTOGRAPH and HUMID
Yep– DIAPHRAGM – MOUNT
I really didn’t expect it to be the official solution!
Whereas I sort of did…
ODONTOGRAPH HUMID
Wet below the ears
Same here. I was thankful to find anything.
Same here. I latched onto […]GRAPH–HUMID and just kept spitballing until something worked.
pantograph – humid
Best I could find was PANTOGRAPH – HUMID, 14/2 like the official (though DIAPHRAGM is a better word). I will be curious to see if anyone finds a 13/2. Tough set of letters for avoiding duplication.
It is more of a 15/2, to be precise.
Sota21 keepin’ ‘em honest!
Pundit – Tomograph here. I was pleased to find Pundit, a fine word even though it causes much weeping and grinding of teeth when I hear the many who should know better (BBC reporters! English professors!) pronounce it Pundint. They also think Tenet is pronounced Tenant. And when they say “Its”, I can somehow hear them saying “It’s” instead, and vice versa. My poor teeth.
Pardon my incomprehension but how’s is ‘its’ pronounced any different than ‘it’s’ -or is that just a way of visualizing their half-ignorance & inadequacy (with which there’s no argument whatsoever)?
Though, I have to say, they strike me as being far more competent than their Greek counterparts…
Just my leetle hoke, Sota, allthough the odds are pretty good they really ARE seeing it wrong in their mind’s eye, and maybe I’m picking up on that!
Speaking as the world’s crankiest grammarian, I will take this opportunity to deliver my current best advice, which I freely impart to everyone whether they want to hear it or not: never ever say Whomever. It will literally NEVER be right, and if by some remote chance someone DOES manage to use it in the one sentence out of a thousand where it’s technically correct, they just sound like a pedantic jerk.
What rubs my fur up the wrong way is when they go ‘the reason being is…’ etc 🙂
Yes,I figure that’s what it is having rerun your text; I moved a bit slow just then…
14/2 +/- 1. Reminds me of the old Boston joke about the student who lined up at the express checkout with a full shopping cart, prompting the clerk to say, “I don’t know if you’re from Harvard and can’t count or from MIT and can’t read, but you’re in the wrong lane!”
So relatable! 🙂
That’s a good one! I’ll have to pass it along to my partner.
good joke DW! missed it yesterday
PUNDIT—TOMOGRAPH
15/2
No theme, just lucky to find something!
Apparently I don’t know how to spell diaphragm. I went with pundit-tomography for 16/2.
I want to amend my answer.
Trump-pig-grand-doh was accepted for 4/16
Bravo! 👏🏼
Thanks! No repeat letters. Renewed my interest in the game.
Official answer as well. Always instructive to see how others have used words I wrestled with unsuccessfully (pundit, pantograph).
PANTOGRAPH – HUMID 15/2
I too am pleased to see Humid put to good use! It’s more than I could manage.
Still not seeing any 13/2 action. I suspect 14/2 is the lowest this array can go.
PANTOGRAPH-HUMID which took ages to find, possibly because I misspelled the first word early on. Duh!
… and it’s 4:31pm here, not 3:31pm
I had TRUMP PARDON NIGH. I’m not sure if this would be considered reporting from the past or the future?!
Love it! Great one. Well played🙂
Ow! WaltS, yer killin’ me!
Odograph Humanitian 2/18 kind of a mouthful, but I did use all the letters
Failed again.
I am getting disheartened.
Tried to use gourmand, photogram graph without success
