Happy Monday!! Oof, that was way too much like hard work. Two hours!
I laughed hollowly when I saw Alice Liang’s solutions afterwards, no BULKIER-RETRONYM, but she had one I found earlier but wasn’t accepted, EYEBOLT-TRINKUM.
May tomorrow be less stressful – loving your finds! Happy Monday.

TWO HOURS – the longest time for a long time. BULKIER-RETRONYM after hanging on KILOBYTE, TEMBLOR, YOUNKER (that looked so promising), YOLKIER, BLINKER, you name it. So many words needed an a, but even if not, MO, ENL, IT, RYU, etc. just didn’t allow for so many possibilities. I was totally looking for words I could call Sam, I was so irimtated.
I was ready to give up, had BULKIER more than once but didn’t see RETRONYM until I thought RETRO and then, WTH, let’s try RETRONYM as a last shot. Lucky guess.
Oof, RF and Kanishk, my besties, hope to see you soonest!
Good luck, everyone, happy Monday.
Looks like I posted at the same time as you, played with many of the same words and thought I must be missing something obvious, especially with KILOBYTE.
Right?! KBY all gone, B and Y nicely tucked away, should have been a breeze. ENORMOUSLY? Ugh, no S.
TUMBRIL became an obsession too, because so many options left those letters behind, but couldn’t match it to anything.
As for Sam E, just discovered that “Ezersky doesn’t actually create the Spelling Bee puzzles from scratch. He chooses enjoyable puzzles from a massive computer database, which he likens to “dumpster diving.” But on that day, he picked a puzzle, thought it was everything it needed to be—tricky, but not too tricky, fun to play, clear.” (Baltimore Magazine, December 2023)
I’m sorry, Sam E, but you’ve been failing on LB for a while in that regard!
Have a great Monday, Samuel!
Failed today.
Good job Miss Irim. Kanishk-boy, still waiting on you…
Hope nobody wasted too much time on this one.
I did Sam.
