  1. JUNGLEFOWL—LICHEN
    JUNGLEFOWL—LECHING
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Looking for more now, but not expecting much.
      1. CHEONGJUʷ—UNFLOWINGʷ
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        ʷ Wiktionary

        I found a dozen or so more paired with JUNGLEFOWL—, but they seem obscure and I’m guessing are only in Wiktionary, which is probably where I got them.

  2. Oh, darn it! I thought I’d honour South Asia by going with JUNGLEFOWL when I saw it was a possibility, LICHEN leapt out, so I immediately had JUNGLEFOWL-LICHEN…

    …cackling, I smugly came over here to see what pedestrian solution they had…only to discover my answer was the OA. *Sigh*

    Anyway, OA immediately. Kanishk and RF, since junglefowl are endemic to us, I know you’ve got this! Looking forward to your solutions.

    Good luck, everyone, and happy Hump Day!

    1. Radioactive Flower

      And again. Another word I can’t concoct in a million years.

      Twice in a row I can’t successfully pair an -ING word.

      Glad I gave up early again.

      I’m happy for you Miss Irim. 👍

      Kanishk-boy might get this according to Miss Irim. Hopefully! 😊

    2. It shouldn’t have come as a surprise to see that your answer was the OA, Irim – what fiendish placements today, OU and NC in particular were nasty. Only two valid solutions today, I believe.

      Spotted both JUNGLE and FOWL but never thought to link the two (JUNGLE being the longest word I could come up with starting with J). In short, two fails in a row.

      Congratulations on the fast solve, Irim, and crossing my fingers for RF – hoping to see you soon!

  3. Samuel Hanwich

    Danced around with JUNGLE and FOWL and a few others, but never thought to link the two. By the way, I ran it past a word-check site, which it won’t let me mention for some reason, and it wasn’t valid on any of the ten common word games they cover. Hope nobody else wasted too much time on this one, glad I bailed when I did.
