      1. Bernie Horowitz

Same. Wasn’t this one of Sybil’s quirks?
Found the OA instantly, which certainly frees up time, especially having polished it off so early!
I’ll check in later and see what folks come up with for alternatives, if there are any.

          1. For Bernie, since no more replies are available on his comment:
Long walks, and short naps, are key!

    1. Same in 15 minutes after focusing on… squirms, marsquake, seaquakes, misform, famous, famishes, squarish. Thought fishfarm was a word and squamish was, but not accepted

  1. SHAKE—EQUIFORM⁺ 13/2
    SMOKEHOUSES—SQUAMIFORM⁺
    ⁺OED
    definitions from Merriam-Webster:
equiform: like in shape or function : uniform
squamiform: having the shape of a scale.

    1. OA quite quickly after playing around with FURIOUS (FARIOUS not accepted) and QUAKE-related. Like the SMOKEHOUSE finding and learning a new word (FAQUIRS)!

      1. I’m sure Ronnie Barker did a piece about the old faquirs on the street corner.

He kept saying old faquirs rather a lot.

    2. Well done! I spent way too long on MARQUISES and SMOKEHOUSE(S) and couldn’t make either work. Finally landed on the OA.

    1. I spent a lot of time with SQUAMOUS and SEAQUAKES but struggled connecting them to a word containing ‘F’

      1. Yep! and trying to fit the R in there also.

The DDG outage put me behind yesterday morning (early Thursday) and then we did painting most of the day in Greasy Cove (they have a great restaurant/general store called the Greasy Spoon there) and back at home i fell right asleep and didn’t really get on this until this morning.

The OA is so easy but all I got were 3’s:
        SQUAMOUS SHRIEKS SHEAFS
        and
        SQUAMOUS SHRIEKS SEIFS

You could cut that last S off each of the answers, but I decided to leave it on for the symmetry.

SEIF – i think that i had completely forgotten that i had learned this word in Marine Geology many years ago – “a sand dune that elongates parallel to the prevailing wind”.

        LB wouldn’t take
        SUFI
        KAFKAESQUE
        SQUAMIFORM
        i’m don’t see why not.
