  1. Morning! Just leaving this here: it seemed relevant. (Sorry it’s late.)
    The limerick, peculiar to English,
    Is a verse that is hard to extinguish.
    Once Congress in session
    Decreed its suppression
    But people got around it by writing the last line without any rhyme or meter.

  2. Bernie Horowitz

    Like PG says. But the extra R in Savory is well worth it for the added TI.
    Is it my imagination, or have the LB masters become more TI-conscious in their OA choices?
    Doubtless there are more efficient answers to be found and reported. I’ll check back!

    1. I have noticed that too, Bernie. It appears to me also that there are fewer possible solutions overall for any given day. It seems that more forethought is going into the puzzles, less random somehow.

    2. These seem like sharp observations, Bernie. But what is TI? Topical Interest? Temporary Insanity? I’m AC (acronym-challenged).

        1. Yes.
          TI=Thematic Integrity
          PSW=Playable Scrabble Word
          OA=Official Answer
          x/y= x letters in y words
          ☕:-)

    3. There’s at least a little TI with the shorter version: I can imagine drinks by the punch table in the old Savoy ballroom (Big-Band Era dancehall), but that would be using the word as a proper noun. The old standard ‘Stompin’ at the Savoy’ is the only reason I tried the word, tbh. I ceratinly wasn’t thinking about cabbage.

  3. REFRESHMENTS – SAVOY 17/2. Other finds: FORTH, OVER(SEAS), HAYFEVER, MATRONS, (FER)MENTORS, HEAVY, SHAVEN, REFORMATORY, H(E)AVEN(S), SEVENTH, ATONEMENTS, FRESHMEN, VOTARY.
    LBF score: 7 (6/12 letters guessed correctly). New entry:
    IMG UEN COH STK
    next.

  5. REFRESHMENTS-SAVORY. No doubt will be flowing across the country on Saturday for the shenanigans. There’s talk of little else this side of the pond. 🤦🏽‍♀️

    1. I was pleased to see that Prince Harry is attending. Cinco de Mayo is a big one in Denver this Fri, Sat.

  6. It is the OA for me today. I did not remember OA as an acronym we used. Horsefeathers was a fun accepted word that got me nowhere.

    I agree seems like more limited number of solutions lately.

  7. I see a different set of letters today (4th May) – different from those shown here – even on different devices and different browsers. Anyone have any idea why that is? I’m a non-subscriber, located in the Czech Republic. I’ve been looking here daily for a few weeks now and have never seen this discrepancy before today.

  8. Huh not sure what happened with puzzle Last night worked on above puzzle and this am was still there but now LRC EGK HIB NTA tomorrow’s? But will take first solve BACKLIGHT TERN (a bird for the win)

  9. Puzzle has changed, in the meantime to LRC EGK HIB NTA. I’ll be posting a solution to this installment on yesterday’s board.

  10. Yes, very strange, I wonder what caused the change? It makes me think a potential solution could be read the wrong way, like the time they changed FETUS in Wordle… 🤔

    Anyway:

    LITHER – REBACKING

    Definitely feels like a cheap solve, but it was also a quick solve, so… 🤷‍♂️

  11. Official for me, the puzzle didn’t change for me.. hope seeing ppl’s answers to the changed one don’t ruin tomorrow

  12. It’s a double-header LBF for me as well; and, since today’s choice (IMG UEN COH STK) did markedly better, I’ll take it and run with it: scored 14 (8/12 letters correctly guessed). I could choose
    LRC EGK HIB NTA (in case this is actually tomorrow’s array), but I’d rather go with
    RZU AIX VEN JOQ.

  13. Refreshments savoy after a lot of effort.
    Tried to make reformatory work too.
    Like the theme with official.
