    1. thanks for finding this – i would feel cheated if the only answer was BLOWFLIES-SUMAC. still sad there’s nothing to pair with UMBILICAL(S)

          1. Radioactive Flower

            Mr.MARKIEMARKUP,

            THAT’S IT!!! ETERNITY, indeed! 😎

            ……….
Our existence is also very negligible compared both to the Earth’s age before we’re born and the eternity after we die. We just popped in the Earth’s timeline and will perish into oblivion.

          1. Other finds:
            man / nuclearization
            munition / nuclearize
            caramelization / noun
            maze / electrocution

  1. I’ve never seen blow fly written as one word while fabulism and seafowl are rather common (and not taken). All to say, between this and downvoting, it’s been kinda dodgy this week

      1. Fishcake, I hear you!
I’m not even close more often than not. I often think of great words like amoebic but then nothing to pair with it.
I’ve learned not to give myself a hard time, and to put a time-limit on trying. 🙂

        1. I think you’re right but once I get started i have a very hard time letting it go. What kind of time limit do you usually use?

    1. LAMBIC (a kind of beer) was accepted, but not LAMBICS. On the other hand, both IAMBIC and IAMBICS were accepted.

My new theory is that the LB lexicon was built from the ground up, with someone just inputting every word they could think of.

      1. It’s also clear, I believe, that the LB and Scrabble word lists are simply intersecting sets, mathematically speaking. Neither fully contains the other. For example, AWD is in LB, but not in Scrabble. Conversely, GED is in Scrabble, but not LB. I’m not sure if this dichotomy exists only with abbreviations, but I think there have been other cases.

    2. Pretty sickened by the rejection of fabulism. Feeling frustrated…like I’m playing against AI and it uses my own vocabulary against me.

  2. I’m making do with three again: FABULOUS-SWAMI-ICE. Some sort of epiphany involving frozen water?

I did spot Umbilical, Malicious, Scabious, etc–AND discovered that Bulimious is an acceptable LB word.

  3. No LB-approved twofer today.

    WOLF – FLAMBEAUS – SLICE
    Lycanthrope hunt.

    BEFOULS – SWAMIS – SIC
I don’t want to go there.

  4. Got it, but only because I have a record by YMA SUMAC.

My first answer was WOLF FLAMBEAUS SIC, the ending of which seemed apt.

  5. Someone on Reddit came up with a different 14/2 which I thought was a great solution:
    OWLISMS-SUBFACE
    Happy Friday!

  6. OA for me also.
    And then
    SUBFAMILIES SCOW
and then I tried UMBILICALS and UMBILICALCUSES, and got the same results as others with LB not accepting SUBFOWL.
oh well, at least I got something today. And ALIOW.

  7. Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

  8. OA after spending most of the day on the road driving from Quebec to Boston – phew!

tried so hard to find a pairing from FLAMBEAU(S) as well.

Hats off to those of you who found SUBFAMILIES – impressive 🙂

  9. Frustrating!!!😵‍💫 I wasted my time toiling with… piranha, piracy, archway, highway,
    grumpy, prawny, anarchy, anarchic,
    urchin, runaway, chagrin

    And, Guargum wasn’t a word 🙄😩
