  1. When I was young enough to believe that not having to pay attention was a virtue; I was driving a flat, endless road at dawn. As the sun rose I realized I was surrounded by fields of sunflowers. I found an overpass and stood and watched them greet the morning. It was overwhelming beauty.
This answer and memory made me glad today.

  2. Similar to official answer: ZITS – SUNFLOWER. I has found RITZ but failed to “spot” that it went with SUNFLOWER.

    1. So, it is a picture of an “American hardcore punk band” called TURNSTILE and they definitely can get a bit loud and frowzy.
So just plug your solve into Google and you can see and listen to them.
      Learning is fun!

      1. The absurdist Frowziest Turnstile here as well. I grabbed it and ran, for life is too short to look for the perfect solution.

    2. Funny, I had found FROUZIEST, which wasn’t accepted by LB. It is, however, a Scrabble word. I didn’t think of spelling it with the W. That would have saved me some time, I tell you.

  3. Official here (it’s been quite a while since I last landed a 13/2). Other finds: OUTSWORN, OUTFLOW(S)(N), OUTFLEW, FORTUNES, FRENZIES, OUTWRESTLES, INFLOW, LEISURE, [FURZIEST], FLOWERET(S), and FLOWERIEST.
Like groundhog day with LBF: 7½ (7 letters correctly). It doesn’t seem to be going anywhere but I’ll be soldiering on until I find something more productive to do with my time:
YNC BDK OPT RUA for tomorrow.

      1. I’ll refer you back to the February 24, 25, and 26 boards -& any interest will (no doubt) immediately fizzle out…

    1. I tried OUZO for a while.

Once, at a fusion-ish restaurant (the usual + pretensions to Greek food), I asked “Do you have ouzo?” Waitress frowns, “No.” Brightening, she says “But we have rice!”

  4. ZITS-SUNFLOWER almost immediately. So I got to “Ewww” quickly. The official solution–and MVUA’s memory–are much more appealing.

  5. Now that I see the official answer, I can’t believe I didn’t spot it! Instead I settled for FROWZIER – RUNLETS, which has a certain TI if you are moderately high.

Good birds today! WESTERN ORIOLE, WREN, TERN, STILT, NENE, TIT, and, if double letters are allowed, LITTLE TERN.

  6. Not finding any dogs, unless we’re allowing double letters, in which case we’ve got Setter and Terrier. My family’s Dachshund was named Fritzi, does that count?

  7. So bizarre for me: got this answer within a few minutes and I don’t know what either word even means and had never heard of either word until today:
    FROWZIER RUNLETS. Weird.
