OA too. After I found SLEAZY, I refuse to give up. I only need a plural first word which I claimed to contain BACK. I notice DRAWBACKS first from the leftovers but W and B are on the same side. I scratched BACKYARDS too. I was persistent. I was right. I knew BACKWARDS – SLEAZY is the OA.

It took me only 15 minutes. First impression was: ‘This is hard. Only two vowels.’

      Easy for me today! 🤗

      1. We had a very similar journey. I was sure “drawbacks” was the word too before seeing the w/b roadblock. And, sleazy was the first word I found 😂

Got today’s in less than 10 minutes. I’m guessing there’s a bunch of solutions

      2. OA. Started with SLACKWARD but that was not accepted. That led my eye to BACKWARDLY which was allowed, but cornered me with too bad letters at either end. So I switched to BACKWARDS and then SLEAZY fell into place immediately. Total time was about 2 minutes.

        1. OA in relatively short order for me today as well. I’ll take it after the arduous journey to Blobfish-Hegemonist yesterday!

  1. OA almost immediately. Whenever I see a K I look for a C and then look to see if I can make a word with BACK in it. Often works well.

  2. I can’t believe it!
    I’m done already!
OA for me too but the first word that I saw, almost immediately, was DEBACLES … figures … here we go again.
DEBACLES left SKYWARZ which I wanted LB to take but of course it didn’t.
But then I got the 3-word WRACKED DEBACLES SLEAZY and after that I decided to see what goes with SLEAZY which of course is BACKWARDS. A great eternal TI!

    1. Looks like a good chance that OA is the Only Answer for a two word solution today – ’twill be interesting to see what Davel tells us at end of the day.

    2. OA. Took some time though. Had quiet a few words with Z for a long time.. and then boom! Backwards did it!

  3. OA.
Started out Backwards, so to speak. Tried to find words ending in ALYZE or ABLE. When I gave up on that, quickly saw Seaward, Backwards and then Sleazy was unavoidABLE.

  4. I surprised myself: found the OA instantaneously! When I opened it, I saw BACKWARDS immediately. And SLEAZY was obvious from the leftovers. 😀 A very pleasant departure from the past few days of struggling for eons!

  5. OA here as well. One of my quickest solves because fortunately I saw BACK first. Lid not even on the coffee cup. Oddly unsettling, but off to SB, etc.

  6. Interesting to note the order in which you do NYT puzzles. For me, it’s always Wordle first, then Spelling Bee if it’s not still locked from yesterday, then Connections, then my hands-down favourite, LB. Sudoku at the end of the day, if I have the time and inclination. I miss Digits.

I do Connections first, then Wordle, using a five-letter word taken from the former to initiate the latter. Adds variety.

I hadn’t solved one in over a week. Nice to not only get this one, but have it come in under 2 minutes.

  8. OA again. Took a bit longer than most today by the looks of it — spent a fair amount of time looking for ~ABLE words. Found SLEAZY, then DRAWBACKS, then freaked out that DRAWBACKS doesn’t work despite fitting so nicely, then realized it rearranges to BACKWARDS and a clear OA. 😙👌

  9. Took me longer to get it but finally found OA. I noticed SLEAZY earlier but didn’t notice the pair until now. I spent time with WRACKED and SKYWARD(S) but couldn’t complete them.
