Had high hopes for SANDFLY (which is a new word for me) but ended up with HUSBANDED DEFTLY. I know there is a redundant suffix there but I had tried HUSBAND briefly then HUSBANDLY and then HUSBANDED and quickly saw DEFTLY and submitted it without thinking it through due to excitement and relief.

FUNDABLE-ETHYLS for me, too. Takes me back to the British soap ‘Eastenders’ many moons ago (and a chain-smoking, gin-swigging granny called Ethyl). Fiddled for a long time with DEATHLY, DEATHBED, SUNBED, ASTUTELY, ABUNDANTLY, BANDSTAND and LEFTHANDED. Glad it’s over.
On second thoughts, Ethyl was more UNFUNDABLE than FUNDABLE.
OA after almost moving on to other words when I couldn’t get anything to pair with HUSBANDS. Sometimes the shorter word reveals the way!
