Here are the Letter Boxed June 19, 2024 Answers from New York Times Games. Our solutions and answers are 100% valid and accurate. We suggest trying to solve the game on your own before using the help of our website.
Sides of this Letter Box are:
VEOIMSCAPFRN
The answers are:
FAVICONSSPERM
PROFORMAS – SERVICEMAN
PROFORMAS – SERVICEMEN
CONSPECIFICS – SERVICEMAN
FORCEPS – SERVICEMAN.
Forceps was part of the OA recently.
Same here
VAMPIRIC-CONIFERS in a scary forest
Prickly pine needles… watch out!
Nice TI , franzee2 🙂
Same!
Blood sucking pine trees! 🌲
I got VAMPIRES – SONORIFIC! lots of good solutions today!
Same! It’s a much better solution than the “official.”
Same here in 20 minutes 😁🍻
Me too!
Same. “Little Shop of Horrors”? I thought that the word “VAMPIRE” would factor in some how, but it took me a half an hour to come up with VAMPIRIC.
Quickly found the delightful Vampiric Conifers (Triffids!) and stopped looking. OA or no, it wasn’t gonna get any better than that. But seriously, what is up with this OA? Is it AI? What actual human would propose Favicon, vottever dot meanss?
NO AI IN LB OA!
VAMPIRIC-CONIFERS for me too, my first solve in days. I’m glad we didn’t encounter any of those on the camping trip we just had!
Vampires sonorific
FORCEPS-SERVICEMAN
For a tidy quick solve. I’ll look for more later.
Profs Serviceman : was also accepted, and though I knew it wouldn’t be the OA, I would have never gotten the real one… and the clever man fixing the dishwasher agreed.
Hey, MVUAhhh
I just never saw the efficient use of the leftover P-O-F. Good job! ❤️💜
Lol
And for the record FAVICON, it turns out is a contraction, and means (since I had to look this up – definitely a “new” word that did not exist when I was growing up!):
FAVICON: A favicon, short for “favorite icon,” is a small icon that represents a website or web page in a web browser.
thanks Nicole – i was wondering about what it was!
And so far, as of about 11:40am BT (blog time) it looks like no one has come up with LetterBoxes official answer.
Hrrmmph. Point well-made, Nicole. I would like to know what Mr Ezersky could possibly say in defense of the OA.
Found these words that all pair with SERVICEMAN:
Fops
Profs
Forceps
Personifies
Personifiers
Proformas (also with servivemEn)
^servicemEn
Profs Serviceman or Fops Serviceman.
Saw Service early, took a bit longer for Serviceman.
FOPS – SERVICEMAN
Saw Man/Men immediately, Service a little later, then Fops immediately.
Yes, ‘FOPS’ over here, too. Kudos to those who found a more clever complement to SERVICEMAN.
But even more kudos to those who came up with the OA.
Did anyone, though, KP? Universal condemnation seems more like it.
My route to FOPS – SERVICEMAN too! Then realized I could do PINAFORES – SERVICEMEN after finding PINAFORES earlier. Thank goodness the OA wasn’t the only solution because FAVICONS was never going to happen. Again, a new head-scratching word for the list!
Another FOPS – SERVICEMAN. Not elegant but efficient.
FOPS / SERVICEMAN pretty quickly.
FOPS SERVICEMEN too after failing with VAMPIRIC, EMPIRIC, RECOMPENSES, OCEANIC, PRINCES, FINANCIERS CRAMPONS and others.
This was my solution as well. Add PREFERENCES, VARICOSE, VARIANCES, and OMNIPRESENCE to your list of words that I couldn’t pair. Had VAMPIRES right out of the chute and couldn’t pair that either thought somebody above astutely found SONORIFIC to go with that. FAVICON is a pretty questionable choice… Reminds me of the contestants on the Masked Singer who I don’t have a clue who they are even after they are unmasked… Oh well, a solve is a solve and on to tomorrow…
Word Play:
(2-) (6-letters):
(_ _) (_ _ _ _se)
Clue: Yes.
OF COURSE ??
Or:
Do Please
Or, ew corpse; which would be a no.
Hey, Sir BILL DUFFIN,
YES, OF COURSE, that is correct! Good job! Yay!!! 🤓👍
☢️🌹
2nd puzzle in past couple months that I’ve found FAVICON(S).
Didn’t expect SPERM to be the 2nd part of solution, but here we are.
Hi RrrF
OF COURSE I’ll be working on LB solutions today.
👍
FOPS — SERVICEMAN
SERVICEMAN — NONSPECIFIC
VAMPIRES — SOMNIFIC
Lots of solves today. Also played around with PERSONIFIER and VAMPIRIC.
VAMP — PROFICIENCIES
VARIFORM, RECOMPENSES and NECROSCOPIES also may have potential.
Same
MONOSPECIFIC — CONSERVANCIES
24/2
I’m out of here!
Vampiric conifers
I got the same
Fops serviceman
Same
VAMPIER-REFERENCES
Also got PROFORMAS-SERVICEMEN
Did anybody get the OA? (I had to look up favicon!)
VAMPIRIC – CONIFERS as well. Mainly chiming in to say FAVICONS is one of the flimsiest words to be in an official solve yet. Obviously neologisms have their place here, but FAVICONS is just not out and about in the world in terms of regular (or intermittent) use. Anywho, feel trolled by it and responding, which isn’t wise but feels good ha. 🙂
Another example of a word being accepted by LB, but that is NOT in the OED (at least the online version that I use). Of course, everyone is under the same constraints, so I guess it comes down to “their puzzle, their rules.” 🙂
My solution is a little obscure:
NAVIFORM MONOSPECIFIC
LB accepted both words.
Naviform is not a PSW, but Monospecific is (both US & UK).
And both words are in the OED.
My TI for “Naviform Monospecific”: Noah’s job – build the first cargo ship.
Interestingly,
while “Naviform” was accepted by LB but isn’t a PSW,
“Aviform” – a UK PSW, was rejected by LB.
Aviform is in Collin’s online dictionary and Wikitionary, but it might not be in the OED … i tried searching for it on one of their sites and came up empty …
Vampiric – conifers
Blood sucking trees
VAMPIRES—SONORIFIC, VAMPIRES—SOMNIFIC
Those loud, hypnotic creatures of the night.
🧛🧛
INVARIANCES—SPIRIFORM°
The golden ratio is everywhere. (√5+1)/2
VIPERIFORM°—MANICS°,VIPERIFORM°—MASONIC°,VIPERIFORM°—MERCENARIES
Snakelike people, qualities,..
VARIFORM—MONOSPECIFIC
An LB oxymoron?
Vampires – Somnific
Pretty good TI if you ask me
👍
VAMPIRIC CONIFERS
VARIFORM – MONOSCOPE
Soporifics->serviceman
OA for me!
I think you’re alone there, Alec! Ain’t you the smaht one!
fops – serviceman
VAMPIRIC CONIFERS
Undead Gymnosperms
VAMP – PROFICIENCES

FAVICONS – SPERM, and am absolutely floored that it’s also the OA. FAVICONS was a total guess, and would normally drive me up the wall with how obscure it is. Not sure what kind of websites Ezersky is browsing to inspire the OA. 🤔
Got stuck on MONOSPECIFIC, for a while, but couldn’t find any of the matches DAVEL posted.
In my list, only items 1 – 64 will have words recognized by LB. Items that follow have asterisks as part of the solution and those words will say “NOT A WORD”
Also, the puzzle might have been seeded with today’s words if it is after 3AM EST
VAMPIRIC – CONIFERS
Pretty quickly
