Meanwhile it rejected what I feel is a perfectly acceptable word—TRASHBIN—although TRASHCAN is apparently legit.

Isn’t this something like the third time in recent memory that a solution has included YACHT? Anyway, I was hoping to do something with HRYVNIA(S), ASTHMATIC, or ARYTHMIC, but no joy.
OA. Yes, yacht appears way too often.
OA. I got VIBRANCY right from the start, and saw YACHT, but got my lines tangled trying to fit in the M. I then tried several different tacks but soon concluded that I had to have set the proper course at the start. So I jibed back to VIBRANCY and landed on YACHTSMAN.

OA for me, but I was really hoping to use BRAINIACS for all of you who solve the puzzle every day with such seeming ease.
OA but not until afternoon tea. On my way I had TRASHCAN, CHAMBRAY, VITAMINS among others. Phew!
Struck out today. Figured VIBRANT/VIBRANCY must be part of the OA, and stared at YACHT for a long time, but never thought to try YACHTSMAN. 😒
At least I was smart enough to give up after a reasonable amount of time, which is not always the case. 🤦♂️
