      1. Mythomaniac Curd and Drum Mythomaniac.
Also Thorium Mordancy, which sounds like a real thing!
Other finds along the way: Dynamo, Orchid, Orchard, Rouncy, Romancy, Humanity, Inhumanity, Radium, Cardamom, Crotch, Carotid, Adhocracy, Adhort, Chiromancy, Myocardium, Myocardiac, Arachnid.
I’m sure Sota will be all over this one, with all its Greekitude…

        1. Quite the set you got going on there, Bernie! Indeed, ADHOCRACY (which was new on me and, hence, the most intriguing of the lot) is only pseudo-Greek etymologically (it took some doing to establish).
Had I foreseen that Greekery would turn out to be such a decisive feature about me in this forum, I’d have gone by a moniker such as ‘Greek the Geek’ or something, rather than the flavourless one I chose -but it’s probably too late for that…

        2. And THORIUM – MORDANCY is pretty remarkable; I’m not exactly sure why Jill went on to -in a way- pooh-pooh it after coming up with it.

  1. MYOCARDIUM – MYTHOMANIA for a whopping 19/2. My Greek words’ pool clearly came to the rescue today. A had a look (not necessarily an extensive one) into UNITY, -MANCY, DRAMA, DRUM, DYNAMO, CHARITY, COUNT, ANTI-, UN-, AMOUNT, UNMOUNT, MARCH, RADIOMAN, TOUCH, MUCHO, MACHO, MACHINA, COURTYARD, HITMAN, CHARM, -IUM, ARMY, INCH, [ACANTHOID], CHINA, CHAIN, CHORD, -TOMY, and THORNY, before stumbling upon MYOCARDIUM which I was determined to make work &, fortuitously, found MYTHOMANIA to round that one off.

  2. Like Jill THORIUM MORDANCY unlike Jill I will not be going back as I find these ones with a Y in them exhausting. Not sure whY I have such a hard time with it but it seemed like it has been this weeks theme

  3. It occurred to me that when I was on earlier I forgot to post my own solution! I had very little time this morning, so I stopped at CARDAMUM – MYTHOMANIA. I was not put off by the fact that the puzzle rejected CARDAMUM, as it is a playable Scrabble word. In fact, I have decided not to treat the puzzle’s word list as authoritative from this point forward. It’s too wonky. If a word is playable in Scrabble, I will count it.

    1. I 100% share your sentiment, DW! If anything -& on the evidence of several ridiculous words they’ve been allowing to stand-, the word list ought to be as inclusive as possible, especially in relation to alternate spellings. Furthermore, as many of us go through various NYT puzzles, an invariable word base should apply to all, rather than have players treading tight ropes between different games. I’d be fine with it being the Scrabble word pool, until everyone gains access to which, however, you’re likely to have people turning to you for some semblance of approval.
(I was, in fact, curious what your solution was, but I would never ask).
