AWITMEPNRBKS
The answers are:
TRIBESMANNEWSPEAK
TIMBERMAN—NEWSPEAK
☕
and
BIPARTISAN—NEWSMAKERS
relevant to current events in US.
🙂
GREAT one! I was racking my brain to find a partner for NEWSMAKERS, kicking myself for not thinking of BIPARTISAN. I like this better than the OA – wouldn’t say NEWSPEAK is mainstream esp for those who never read 1984.
Excellent un-covery!
This is excellent!
Thumbs up, Mark! Much better than OA.
Spot on!
LOVE IT!
OA for me.
I so wanted brewskies to work for fluid February!
Breastpin newsmaker
This was mine too, and I didn’t find it until 3am. Very pleased with the TI and long sought-after solution.
TIMBERMAN-NEWSPEAK too!
evolving dialect of the Canadian Rockies eh
And here as well. It’s certainly better than my alternatives, Newspaperisms Strikebreaker and Brakeman Newspaperist…
Napkin and Beatnik were sooo tempting, but unpairable.
Yes, I ended up pairing NEWSPAPERISMS and STRIKEBREAKER. Thought of SNAKEBITE on the drive home, but that word is not playable on today’s board. SNAKEBIT* completes, but wasn’t allowed by LB.
I agree that Snakebit’s rejection made no sense!
BIPARTISAN-NEWSMAKER
Found Spearmint but could only make
SPEARMINT-TWEAK-KERB
Yeah, I really liked spearmint but could only make taker and rake to go with it.
SPEARMINT TWERK still left me with that B
Bipartisan Newsmaker
Tribesman Newspeak
OA.

Newsmaker-rebaptism
17/2.WEAKENER REBAPTISM
SAME! I was beginning to think I was the only one with this combo
SWEATPANTS – SMIRK(IER/IEST) and a lonely, elusive B
How much longer before “twerkers” is accepted…they are out there busting their tails off on a daily.
I’m surprised it isn’t, because Twerk is accepted. I note, however, that Tweakers gets you to the same place – which is to say, nowhere!
Yeah I had tweakers but like you said… went nowhere. Then my heart went out to all the twerkers out there not getting the recognition they deserve.
MINIBIKERS* – SWEATPANTS. Interestingly, the puzzle accepted SWEATPANT ( Scrabble does not). “Honey, have you seen my eyeglass, swim trunk, and sweatpant? I swear they were right here in my chest of drawer.”
That’s hilarious 😂! You’ll have to put in work to find the other.
CLUE GAME (Part Two) – The other eyeglass was in the conservatory (Colonel Mustard had it). The other sweatpant in the Library under the watchful eye of Professor Plum. And, Ms. Peacock was holding and swim trunk thinking how!
That’s really good!
A client of mine imports floor coverings and rugs. I called her (it was a pretext call, hadn’t spoken to her in a while) and confirmed that one of the rugs she showed me is called a KABISTAN and then did a web search. See https://www.bing.com/search?q=%2bWhat+is+a+kabistan+rug%3f&filters=rcrse%3a%221%22&FORM=RCRE
It was my first word but it was not accepted.

BREASTPIN-NEWSMAKER though I have to admit that I do not know what a breastpin is. I was just playing around with letters and it was accepted. A brooch maybe?
And if I am right about that, then perhaps the TI is Margaret Thatcher or Nancy Pelosi.
TIMBERMAN NEWSPEAK
Forgot to mention Knitwear Rebaptism.
That was mine too!
Knitwear ramparts and a lonely B
PERMANENT – TWEAKERS – SIB
“Chill, Bro.”
Super frustrating day again! 🙄😵💫😵
The puzzles for me are either less than 15 minutes, 20-30 minutes… or “2 hours with 20+ great word failures”. I’m impressed with the solutions many of you found.
I’ll be curious if Davel reveals pairings with:
permanents, spankers, sweatier,
bespeak, streakier, separatists,
ambient, (antiperspirants how didn’t that work?), impermanent, bitstreams, timbers, sweatpants, knitwear, sparerib,
sneakier, spearmint, smirkiest,
impatient, impatiens
Also disappointed several good words were not accepted, such as:
spermbank, trampstamps, parbake,
beartraps, brewkits,
I thought of
antiseperatists while typing my list. It’s a word too. Not sure it would have been accepted.
Here is the full list including Scrabble words:

the longest allowable word today was 15 letters; ANTIPERSPIRANTS
It wasn’t part of a solution because it only has 8 unique letters; w, m, b, k are leftover letters
😩
Couldn’t get an official answer, but did come up with Writs-Spermbank which of course was not allowed. Tough one today.
knitwear Rebaptism
