The answers are:
BLUSHEDDEMARCATE
Can it be I am first out of the gate today? Too bad I have nothing more to offer than the official answer.
Official here too!
FWIW, I note today’s SB pangram has made more than one official appearance in LB.
blushed – demarcate
BLUSHED – DECAMETER, just to mix it up. The placement of L vis-à-vis U is very limiting in this array.
Also limited in this array are birds: CARACARA and THRUSH, the latter of which is a TURDUS, giving the relevant family the name of Turdidae, which includes the Bluebirds — so you might think a Bluebird should really be called a BLUE THRUSH, but, no, it isn’t. There is a Blue Rock Thrush, though; perhaps in a future array.
Could THRASHER be used alone? The only one I’m familiar with is the Brown Thrasher, but I believe it’s a larger group. 🙂
Sure, why not? Good spot, I missed it. The Brown Thrasher is one of eight Thrashers in North America. They are mimics, in the same family as Mockingbirds and Catbirds.
Same. Blushed-decameter

I experimented with the rules this morning. Removing the letter placement constraint does indeed open the floodgates. Many more words are obtained:
BLUEBREAST, BUMBLEBEE, BUSHMASTER, HAMMERHEAD, REDBREAST, STEELHEAD.
CHEESECUTTER, HEADCHEESE, MEATBALLS, MUSCATEL, RESTAURATEUR.
ACCELERATE, DECAHEDRAL, DECELERATE, DELTAHEDRA, STARBURSTS, TESSELLATES, TETRAHEDRA, TETRAHEDRAL
New word for me today: HAULM
Well, I found CREMATED and BLUSH, but couldn’t join them up. Others I toyed with included: AMATEUR, CULTURED, BECAUSE, THESAURUS, CRUSHED, ABASHED, ABLUTED. Heaven knows what that means.
Abluted = Bathed/Washed. “His morning ablutions completed, he dressed and faced the day.”
Abluted and Barbered, for good measure. Well spotted, Rach!

MACABRE and RECLUSED(S) were dead ends leaving me wistful for the LB day I called easy
Official, again.
I, for one, came up with BLUSHED–DEMARCATES. See? Don’t let it be said that today’s box didn’t afford us a wealth of solutions.
My best guess was 3 words: BLUSHED DRAMA ACT
I got both the official & the DECAMETER alternative (which actually came right before DEMARCATE). Although the letters’ distribution struck me as rather restrictive, I always felt I was missing something simpler (not the case as it transpired). Other finds: BRUTE, CRATE, (A)SHAME(D), TARMAC, SCRAB, MACERATE, BLUES, BLUECURLS, ABDUCT, CLUED, BEDMATE, [MACERATER], MACABRE, ADULT(ERATE), CRUSHED, BRUSHED, CULTURES, BADMASH, CULTURED, BATHMAT, RESCUED, RESULTED, CARBAMATE, RECLUDES, SECLUDE(S), and CREMATES.
LBF score: 7 (6 letters guessed correctly).
I’m going
RUT CAM SHE BWX
for tomorrow.
