    1. Man, took me until after midnight because I had a crazy busy day, and that was my solution as well. I thought, surely nobody else had to resort to such an inefficient answer… And yet here it was, first one on the board. 89/96, 5/6, 1, 36

  1. WIDGER—RUNFLAT
    UNWIELDIER—REFRIGERATE
    UNWIELDIER—REFRIGERANT
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I predict not very many solutions today, but it’s obviously not a singular day.
      1. Me too. WIDGER was not in Merriam, but it was in OED, and it was in Wiktionary. RUNFLAT was also not in Merriam, and it was hyphenated in OED. It was also intact in Wiktionary. For the several months now that I’ve been relying more on Wiktionary I’ve yet to come across a word in OED or Merriam that was NOT in Wiktionary. It appears to be a superset of those. I usually don’t check other sources.
  2. OA in around 30 minutes, after trying to pair words like GIRLFRIEND and INTERTWINE. A very restrictive array.
    Irim and RF, hoping to see you both soon, and a happy Monday to everyone!
    1. INAUGURAL LEFTWARD – it took 3 hours after seeing them separately and not connecting them for ages.
      Also UNWIELDIER REFRIGERATE – same problem. Just tired I guess.
      Hated this grid, frankly.
      Happy Monday, everyone!
  3. OA – After failing to connect Widget, Intertwine, Frigate, Girlfriend, Leftward, and Gunwale. I went back to Leftward and worked backwards to find a word ending in AL.
  4. UNWIELDIER REFRIGERANT as well
    Tried to match UNFRIENDLIER with TAWGU which is an American Indian (Utah) word for “thirsty.” It’s also a Kachin (Burma) term for “needles.” But wish I’d thought of the OA — much easier.
