Is there a Greek theme somewhere here, Sota?

Official answer, which felt official right off despite its whimsy. Shades of Pooh hunting his wiley prey!
Other finds on the way there: Mashup(s), Anonymous, Motheaten, Bushman.
Steph’s Greek-all-over Myths Subpoena (a winner at 13/2) is a good preview of GOP House Committee plans.
Hahaha. Wish I had a tenth of your much-enjoyed wit, Bernie.
I was thinking less Pooh and more Mata Hari. One of us has lived a more virtuous life.
High-minded and wholesome, yeaahhhh, that’s me… I did in fact go to spycraft before Pooh, but associated it with Honey TRAP, not HoneyPOT. I see now, however, that they are used interchangeably.
Enjoying the Pooh reference…I went there too

EYEBATHS SPUMONE
I had BYPATHS SPUMONE.
But it lacks the read-both-ways feature (SPUMONE EYEBATHS is s good one).
TEAPOYS – SUBHUMAN. Steph’s solution is waaaaay better. 🙇♂️
TEAPOYS – SUBHUMAN 15/2 here as well. I thought I had instant success with PHONEYS – SUBATOM, only to be reminded that the latter is not accepted (though it didn’t take long thereafter). I also went over AMBUSH, BUSHMAN, and STONEY. BERNIE HOROWITZ is 100% right about STEPH’s answer being Greek through & through, as both MYTH & POENA (:penalty) are Greek -and DW’s theory about Greek entries helping form efficient solutions is backed right up.
Got a little more mileage out of SUBHUMAN, such as EYESPOTS –, and my favorite: MYTHOPOETS.
Worked for a while with AMBUSHES, thinking the S would be an easier letter to pair with. Came up with STENOTYPY. None of these are especially elegant or compellingly thematic, though I do like the idea of a subhuman poet.
EYESPOTS—SUBHUMAN
I’m not awake enough yet to posit a theme.
🙂
SUBHUMANS—STENOTYPY
I didn’t know they knew that!
Myths-subpoena

Failure with the puzzle today,
though I’m delighted to have been introduced to that lovely piece of furniture, the teapoy.
Official. I’m surprised Euonymous wasn’t accepted: several common plants in that genus.
Well lots of nice words STEAMBATHS ANONYMOUS SYNONYMS i got stuck on but none of the right ones today
Myths Subpoena
Struggled with it this morning. Went out for a very long lunch then cracked it !
