Here there are Letter Boxed July 16, 2023 Answers from New York Times Games. Our solutions and answers are 100% valid and accurate. We suggest to try and solve the game by your own before using the help of our website.
Sides of this Letter Box are:
SOFTINDGARUH
The answers are:
AFRAIDDOUGHNUTS
Firsthand Dugout
Firsthand Dough
UNAFTAID – DROUGHTS
Whoops. Make that UNAFRAID – DROUGHTS.
Same
Same here! Would have rather had doughnuts in the mix, but I’ll take Unafraid and Droughts. 🙂
DRAUGHTS SANGFROID
Sangfroid is an excellent find. And there’re so many ways TI options.
Giving nothing away during game play.
I don’t care if the channel is shallow, I’m bringing this boat through!
Drinking ale in slightly bored fashion.
OA and quite quickly 🙂
FROND – DISTRAUGHT.Not the OA but found quickly.
Same here, including ‘quickly’. A pleasant surprise after the last few days of whiffing.
same and same. 😊
Guidons Starfish 😊
FRIGHTS-STANDOUT
Same
RANDO – OUTFIGHTS … Fight Club
FROND – DISTRAUGHT … Fern Gully
AFRAID – DOUGHNUTS … Full Metal Jacket
Outfights Strand and Doughnuts Starfish…
Lots of possibilities today!
FAIRGROUNDS-SHIFT
a traveling carnival
I love this solution!
The reason I wouldn’t go to a museum dedicated Bagels and Doughnuts is because I’m afraid it would just be a torus trap.
oof! dad joke!!
FROGFISH – HANDOUT
FAIRGROUND – DRAUGHTS. A stall where you can play checkers and win a teddy bear.
Grab your binoculars & appetite, it’s the Doughnuts – Safari
The best kind!
That’s what I got. And immediately I went hunting in the kitchen!
FAIRGROUNDS-SHOT. Took a while because of all the -OUGHT rabbit holes. Also GROUNDHOGS, FRAUGHT, ASTOUND.
Also TUNDRA.
TROUGH-HANDFISH.
(Appropriately the handfish belongs to the Brachionichthyidae family which would be a candidate for a Letter Boxed one-word answer game were it not capitalized.)
Troughs Sandfish
Good one!
My son wrote a script showing words with 12 unique letters. Does anyone know why so many fish families made the list? I never studied latin but I guess just a function of long words.
AROUND DOGFIGHTS
I don’t want to be around a dogfight.
Same here, and quick find, after the last several days have had me struggling with dead ends.
15/2.AROUND DOGFIGHTS
The OA made me laugh.
My solution was UNGUARD – DOGFIGHTS
GRIFT—THOUSAND
A certain political figure comes to mind.
FIRSTHAND—DOUGH
theme needed
DOGFIGHT—TUNDRAS
WWII pilots over the arctic.
ARGONAUTS—SANDFISH
Jason, in the Sahara.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scincus_scincus
STUDFISH also works…
* and I should have capitalized Arctic previously.
HARDFISH HANGOUT
SANDFISH GROUTS
GROUNDS STARFISH
Teeming with life, today’s LB!
Let’s go to the Hardfish Hangout! 😊
Man, that sounds like a rough joint.
FRIGHTS – STANDOUT was my first solution, but I toyed around a bit and found GROUNDFISH – HAT, 13/2. The puzzle did not accept GROUNDFISH, but it’s a PSW, so ptttththt!
As is becoming my norm, birds later if I have the time.
This puzzle is rather thin on the birds.
🐦 ARGUS, DRONGO, GUAN, IORA, TROGON, TUI
Toughs Sangfroid.
Another E-less puzzle today.
Can someone try to make orangutans work?
Maybe some hybrid creatures?
ORANGUTANS—SANDFISH
ORANGUTANS—STUDFISH
Awesome!
Definitely an advantage for the Toughs!
fairgrounds – shot
Outfights strand
Me, too.
Dogfight-tundras
And you can almost spell IDITAROD with this letter arrangement.
TUNDRA is also a SpellingBee word today.
FRIGHT-THOUSAND
FRIGHT-THOUSAND for me too.
FIRSTHAND DOUGH
GUNFIGHTS – SAROD
Same! I thought I might be the only one …
THOROUGH – HANDFISH
Word is he was in Finding Nemo but his scene got cut. 🐟
Nothing original here but keeping thematic with yesterday i offer this connected haiku:
GROUNDHOGS SIFTS SAND
DRIFTS STARS: SUNDOG: GODS STRONG GIFT
THOUGHT TRANSISTORS START
👍
Grounds-Starfish
(The goal was to use all letters in every line
but I may have lost track)
GODS THOUSAND RIFTS
A fun dog’s thirst
Or fronds distraught,
No ghost unfair’d
In tundras fraught.
Sangfroid’s grift
Is firsthand drought,
Ghosts unafraid
Hear sandfish shout.
In the sand, starfish aground
In the earth, groundhogs astound.
In the tundra, round and round,
Nothing surfs and nothing drifts.
Trogons sing, our fairground shifts
In and through god’s thousand rifts.
(ruhsoftindag)
👍
Oops failed to meet the objective. I offer this as my mea culpa:
Frigid doughnuts sang
Grand dish hot trash hangs stung
Grift though hard doughnuts
TROUGHS SANDFISH.
There should be a slang word for a solution when you’re guessing at what you think might be a word (I have never heard of a sandfish or a handfish)
Frond Distraught
Groundhogs-Starfish!
Late solve but I like to think they’re unlikely best friends 🙂
Love this! To me, the beautiful thing about this solution is that both words are animals. I’d been thinking about—and halfheartedly—trying to solve the LB with words from recognizable categories (like DW solving by only using bird names), but not being as concerned with doing so with only two words. This one ticks the category box, but also does so in just two words! Very cool.
I know you might not see this but this absolutely made my day!! I think you should absolutely go for it and I might join you on it as well!!
SIGHTHOUND-DRAFT 🙂
OA
outfights and sangfroid
gunfights and sangfroid
